About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission? To learn everything I can. I think travelling and meeting people is a beautiful and incredibly fun way to live life as well as an excellent education.

ABOUT ME

I am English/Irish. I have a huge family who are all in to playing music and cooking lots of food. I go home to see them a lot in London. We often have lots of family over from Ireland and the US.

I don't like categorising or labelling personalities, but I'd say I'm reasonably outgoing. I love meeting nice people and visiting new places, particularly if there is a new language involved! I would really like to improve my German and learn some Italian. But all cultures and nationalities are very interesting to me.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in taking opportunities, learning as much as you can, finding humour in life and the kindness of people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't really know what to say here... sorry!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couch surfed a twice (not enough!)in the US. Once was in El Paso, once in Austin, Texas. Both were really great experiences. The first was with an old man, who played piano so as soon as we got to his house he asked me to come over to the piano and choose a song book. I picked out Gershwin and he just started playing and i began to sing. It was beautiful! I was there with my boyfriend and he cooked us dinner and leant us bikes and told us lots of stories about his work and about his experience of WWII. He also said he was a world champion ping pong player. I'm not sure I believed but it was great story and he was a lovely man. It was really nice playing music with him and I think he enjoyed hearing about our experiences of The States.

The second couch surf was great, if a little short because we had to leave town to catch a bus. We stayed with a lovely Polish girl in Austin. She was so generous, even though she didn't have a lot of room. We took her out for dinner to say thank you and had some really nice talks about traveling experiences. I liked her cats.

Interests

Singing is a big one. Anything from Classical to jazz, to soul, to folk, to pop. I particularly like vocal harmonising so love meeting other singers and musicians.

I really enjoy Victorian literature such as Oscar Wilde, the Bröntes and Charles Dickens.

Dancing. If I go out in the evening my favorite thing to do is dance. I also really enjoy having a beer at a pub or listening to live music. If I dance though, I've almost certainly had a wonderful night.

Running makes me feel really good. Can't get enough of those endorphins!

Eating -I know this is something most people enjoy, but I really like good fresh food. Particularly French. Or Indian. Or Thai. Or anything really...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Running up the Eiffel tower with my dad on my 13th birthday was pretty special. Family, running and a beautiful city combined. That's three of my favorite things in one experience which made it a monumental birthday.

Another thing, was the birth of my Goddaughter. -I didn't actually witness the birth, but being there afterwards and seeing my cousin (who's basically my sister) holding her beautiful new born baby and asking me to be to be her Godmother was probably the most wonderful flattering moment of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love playing music, so that's something I'd really like to do with anyone I host or visit. Being creative in any way is always more fun with other people.

I like showing people fun places, going on walks and cooking together.

I can help with English language learning. Or I'd be happy to go running with people??

I'd like to learn pretty much anything. German would be great, but I know that's specific. I always enjoy learning new styles of dance. I'd like to imrpove my salsa dancing.
