ABOUT ME

I'm originally from southern NM. I went to college in San Antonio, TX and I consider myself a sun baby- not fond of cold weather! I'm currently working as an Americorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) in Elon, NC. I'd eventually like to be a international aid worker and start my own non profit abroad. I enjoy visiting new places and meeting new people.
I enjoy swing dancing, live music, concerts, knitting (just started learning and it's so much fun!)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined the CS community in 2012 in preparation for spending the summer volunteering in Cambodia. I had some great experiencing surfing and meeting CS people. I'm fairly new to the Cincinnati community and would love to be involved with CS locally.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed in Southeast Asia and gone to several CS events and get-to-togethers in that part of the world. They are always fun, the conversations and experiences are great!

Being from the desert, I love water. I was a swimmer in high school, played water polo in college and still swim almost everyday!
I love being outdoors, I've had the opportunity to visit most of the national parks in the Western U.S.
Other interests: knitting, swing dancing, museums, cooking and baking, concerts.

Movies/TV: Doctor Who, MASH, Amelie, Bleak House, North and South, Death at a Funeral, Princess Bride, Roxanne, Captain Blood, Bringing Up Baby. Basically, I watch a ton of BBC and way too much movies in general :)
I love live music. I listen to a lot indie, folk, classical, country, and some top-40 artists. I like Death Cab for Cutie, Feist, Fanfarlo, Wailin' Jennys, Keith Urban, Coldplay, Blind Pilot, Radiohead. The NPR song of the day has led me to some amazing bands.
I love reading. Some of my favorite authors: Margaret Atwood, Isabel Allende, John Updike, David Sedaris, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Christopher Moore, Fannie Flagg, David McCullough, Geraldine Brooks, John Barth, Julian Barnes. And the list goes on and on....

I met Debbie Reynolds (star of Singing in the Rain). She was 79 and still enjoyed tap dancing- I want to be like that when I'm her age.
The most amazing place I've been is Ghana. It was a life changing experience and really made me want to travel and explore more of the world.
