About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have the most authentic experiences while traveling and discover beautiful people and places along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am an adventurous, active, artistic individual with a free spirit. I am open minded and want to learn and experience cultures besides my own and bring new perspectives back to the United States. I also love to meet new people, especially with those who have very different backgrounds from my own, which couch surfing will certainly help me with! All I need is a couch to sleep on and, perhaps, another open mind to listen to.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfed, hosted, and extending local advice to those who need it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed for 5 weeks straight and aided those traveling where I have been.

Interests

How do I summarize them all! I am an artist, an art teacher in a title I school, an athlete (field hockey) at a local university (Arizona State) and, frankly, have way too many side hobbies! I enjoy hiking, biking, snowboarding, traveling, going to concerts, learning new artistic mediums, and talking to free minded people like you!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am passionate about music, I will listen to nearly anything (though not willingly to country). Grimes, Lord Huron, Father John Misty, Panda Bear, Animal Collective, Run the Jewels, Chance the Rapper, Lettuce, Phantogram, LCD Soundsystem, Goldlink, Grouplove, Tame Impala, Houndmouth, Purity Ring, and I've got to throw in my man Bruce Springsteen!
I'm sure I missed a ton and will edit this later, but also, kudos if you are still reading all of this!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This spring I visited my brother in Shanghai, China, and traveled to various regions around the city such as Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Nanjing. Being on the opposite side of the world would certainly mean new perspectives and cultures, but those very aspects made my trip all the more extraordinary. I loved enjoying home cooked meals with my brother's host family while asking about the history of the city, their childhoods, and their perspectives on Americans and the rest of the world. I left wanting to stay longer.

Besides that, my first experience couchsurfing was for 5 weeks in Berlin, Amsterdam, Prague and Budapest. I stayed with the most warm, intelligent, generous people I have ever known. Their welcoming and willingness to not only aid me during my independent study (while still in undergrad) was truly one of the biggest gifts in my life. Nearly 6 years later, I still maintain contact with several of my hosts who truly enriched my life in ways I cannot even begin to express here.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An open mind and heart is the most important thing to me in regards to travel. I love to ask questions, sit back, and listen.
I also enjoy telling a good story, inserting painful puns, and making sure my hosts never feel burdened by me in any way. After all, we are here to aid each other.
