About Me

Hi! My name is Catherine Vu and I am a college student from San Diego, California!! I am a very open minded and easy going individual. I love spending quality time with the people I love and making new friends everywhere I go. I enjoy being outdoors, exploring new cities, and being active in my everyday life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet people from all walks of life and truly soak in the culture and customs of every place I visit. I'll be backpacking through Europe soon and now more than ever I'm eager to meet locals and get to know people from all over the world. I think Couchsurfing is a really great opportunity to share my culture with others and I'm hoping to gain insight into the daily life of the cities I visit! I'm very open to sharing my experiences with others and I hope to connect with the people I meet on this site!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm really a fan of a lot of different genres (hip hop, R&B, rap, pop, alternative) but, to many peoples' surprise, I love country music!

Movies: The Imitation Game, Wonder Woman, Friday Night Lights, Finding Dori (I'm a sucker for family movies)

Books: The Glass Castle, Open and looking for book recommendations!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In high school, I traveled to Haiti (Gressier) three times on a humanitarian trip. The work consisted of: building an orphanage, delivering food, installing water filters, hosting medical clinics, and much more. The organization I went with focused on creating sustainable solutions for the countries we visited and my time in Haiti was hands-down the most amazing thing I've ever experienced.

What made Haiti special wasn't just the work we got to do, it was the people I was able to connect with and the friendships I made throughout my journey. I stay in touch with the many friends I bonded with in Haiti and it is because of them that I have such a love for that country. It's easy to want to do good things for other people in life, but when you are personally connected to their characters, their lives, and their world - that's when it becomes meaningful!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with hosts my unique experiences in life and the world I come from as a Vietnamese-American who was born in Chicago and spent most of her life in San Diego. I want to bring part of America/California to you and I want to soak up as much of the culture of your country as I can! I'm very open minded and outgoing and I'm more than willing to share my life with you!
