About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cycling in China and beyond

ABOUT ME

I'm a home-loving woman who also yearns for freedom, open space and adventure. I have two sons and have worked as an editor and writer for many years, but now find a commuting regular job is unappealing and increasingly unavailable. I live in a leafy area filled with birdsong, near the sea in a remote scruffy suburb of Auckland's North Shore. My couch is a comfortable fold-out double bed, and I also have two spare bedrooms.

PHILOSOPHY

I am very private and don't like to broadcast my feelings and thoughts!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm setting off for a cycle-touring adventure starting in south-west China in October 2010, and renting out my house for a year. When I return, I'll be happy to host couchsurfers. On my trip, I'd like to meet couchsurfing hosts every now and then to participate in the lives of people in the places I visit and so I can talk to somebody apart from myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only vicarious so far.

Interests

Cycling for transport and pleasure, playing ukulele, guitar and oud, going to Womad music festival in Taranaki, reading about travel, walking along the waterside paths near my home, gardening, being with friends and family, expanding my musical tastes.
