About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Catherine. I'm 24 and work for a health organisation that champions the voices of patients and feeds back to the NHS. I recently moved to a new city for this job, so I'm settling in and so far it's paid off to take the plunge!

This April I'll be in California for a bit to meet up with my girlfriend in the middle of her world travels. I've always wanted to visit, so I'm really excited. You'll see below that one of my favourite authors is Armistead Maupin who wrote the series Tales of the City, which is set in San Francisco.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I strongly believe society would be happier with more connection with strangers.

Interests

I like reading, cooking, being outdoors, board games and dancing - I've done ballroom and Latin, swing, rock'n'roll in the past few years and at the moment I do ceroc.

I am equally happy visiting art galleries, making art, going to the theatre, or having quiet nights in with a glass of wine and good conversation.

It's often the small things in life that give me the greatest pleasure, whether that be an interesting conversation, enjoying noticing the colours of Autumn or the satisfaction of going for a run when I hadn't wanted to leave the sofa.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love indie folk - Johnny Flynn, Regina Spektor, Andrew Bird, First Aid Kit, Sufjan Stevens, The Staves...

My favourite authors are Pat Barker and Armistead Maupin. I like reading classics.

I have varied taste in films, but some of my favourites are One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Moonrise Kingdom, Some Like it Hot. I'll watch almost anything once.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why not have three:

Standing on the border between North Korea and China - the contrast between the two was quite incredible.

Watching the geysers erupt in Iceland for hours. I said "just one more..." more times than I can remember.

Being a leader at a Harry Potter-themed summer camp for French children. It was a crazy two weeks.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company, English practice, cooking/baking...

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Thailand, United States
