Overview
About Me
I'm a recently-graduated geologist with plans to continue studying planetary science in graduate school. I love science, space, the outdoors, audiobooks/podcasts, sewing, drawing, photography, and mostly my dog. I've spent my life on the East Coast of Canada so the ocean is intrinsic to my identity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm looking to keep costs minimal while travelling solo and also meet new people/make connections worldwide so I can expand my network of friends!
Interests
Mostly listed above in the "About Me", but to go into more detail:
- Science, especially related to geology/earth science, space, chemistry, and medicine
- Art and crafting; I draw traditionally and digitally, I'm a semi-pro photographer, and I've been getting into sewing by making costumes, quilts, bowties, and clothes
- I'm a big Marvel fan, specifically the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Avengers universe); I've cosplayed both the Winter Soldier and Captain America at my local comic-con for the past couple of years, and I'm looking forward to seeing what's next!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Mainly non-fiction science, like A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson, The Disappearing Spoon by Sam Kean, almost anything by Mary Roach; for fiction, I'm quite fond of Harry Potter, His Dark Materials, The Martian by Andy Weir, and the Lisbeth Salander series by Stieg Larsson.
Music: Classic rock (AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, Elton John, Queen... does ABBA count?), Great Big Sea, The Barenaked Ladies, Maroon 5, Pink
Movies: Marvel, The Martian, Interstellar, Inception, The Prestige, When Harry met Sally, most Disney, The King's Speech, Moulin Rouge
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to southern Italy in 2013 for a school field trip to study active volcanoes- I got to watch Stromboli erupting from 400m away, and climb Mount Etna.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about my own local geology, and probably a lot about yours!
