About Me

(We can not host for WGT we have guests staying)
I am a expat living in Leipzig Germany with my husband and our little ball of hairless terror Loki. (Hes a sphynx cat) My German husband Jurek and I are friendly non smoking and into the metal, alternative and Gothic scene. We do not smoke cigarettes but we do have a shisha (hooka water pipe) we enjoy to smoke with guests on a random occasion.

Feel free to get to know us and visit! Leipzig is an amazing city full of museums, nightlife, art and things to do! The yearly Wave Gotik Treffen draws in thousands from all over the world so if you are from the US or other English speaking countries you will be made to feel home and we can assist you a little with knowing where to go and answering questions if you are struggling with German. My husband is fully fluent in German and English and I have basic German speaking but have still a lot of work before I can say I am fully fluent.

I am a music journalist for www.metal-rules.com www.thei dependentvoice.org and Decolution Magazine. I also am an aspiring metal musician. I have a project in the works.

I grew up in Michigan near Detroit and the border of Canada. I have traveled a bit and been through many of the US states, I lived in southern California close to LA a few years and I have been to England. I am very open minded, non judgmental and have liberal views on many things. We are LGBTQ friendly. We are clean and sober. We do sometimes occasionally drink mead and absinthe. I can cook and bake pretty well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I seen a friend say something on facebook about it so I checked it out. I think it is a wonderful idea and maybe a good way to meet new and interesting people. Also considering all the cool things to do in Leipzig especially with the alternative scene I know theres plenty of people traveling from all over who could use a friendly safe place to stay especially on a tight budget. I also may need to in future travels utilize this site to find places to stay as well.

Interests

I enjoy creative activities such as painting, writing, drawing, sculpting and arts and crafts. I also enjoy cooking healthy meals and baking as well. We enjoy music, computer gaming, console gaming, card/board games, Karaoke, and meeting new friends.
I am into festivals and body art. I love tattoos and piercings.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well to list them all would take a while.
I love reading all sorts of books. From historical to comic books and alternative magazines. I love body mod and tattoo books. Horror books, vampire books, science fiction, stuff like Harry Potter, Narnia, Lord of the Rings. Pretty much same goes for films. Fantasy, sci fi, Tim Burton, Disney, Jim Henson, Star Wars, historical and artistic films. Live concert films and documentaries. We do not have a TV currently but 2 computers which we use for our entertainment. I own a PS3 with a small selection of games. Singstar, Guitar Heroi 5 though I need to replace the guitars they got broken. Can still sing haha and DJ Hero 2 plus some other games.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Germany! I mean I have done and seen some amazing things but moving to Germany by far is the biggest! Its been over 5 years now.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a very culturally open minded person. I have done a fair amount of traveling. I am also a artist. I love art and music. I am especially into alternative stuff. I enjoy intellectual conversations. My husband and I are liberal in our views and do not tolerate bigots, racists and even if we do not share same views or beliefs believe in tolerance and coexisting peacefully. However guests of course must have grasp of either English or German. We would prefer at least English because my husband and I can both speak it. My German is very basic and needs alot of work as I am not fluent.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a warm friendly little apartment close to shops and not far from 2 train stations. We live on a street with 2 main tram lines and stops are 5 mins walking distance from our place and we live above a small kneipe/bar/pub but other than the traffic trams and trains its pretty calm around here.

We have a comfortable black leather sofabed. A bathtub with shower and a big bathroom. We have a decent size kitchen with a dining table 4 seats and 2 refrigerators one with freezer. We currently do not own a microwave but it is on a list of things we are going to get. We do have a new electric kettle and toaster and a nice oven with cook top. We only ask for some contribution towards food and stuff if you wish to have meals with us based on how many people stay. We have no tenants living below us the entry way is below us and we are on the 1st level up one flight of stairs (not to be confused with ground level) and we have no tenants directly through our living room wall because the building is empty.

When my Personal Computer is not in use by myself I have a guest account that can be used and TV. We also have Wifi and will give our password for guests to connect their phones or devices and ask you do not abuse it by doing any illegal activity/downloading while connected to our Wifi.

If weather is nice we may BBQ and theres a lovely enclosed back garden area with a picnic table. Theres also a safe secure place to put bicycles.

Other than that we are pretty open and friendly. We ask that people are friendly and respectful to us, our place, and the neighbors . If you are a smoker you must smoke outside. There are ashtrays and garbage bins outside as well.
