Hey! I'm Cathy. My Chinese name is 耿上翎 (Keng, Shang Ling) and I am now studying in the department of foreign languages and literatures in National Taiwan University. I consider myself a little quite when in big crowds but very good at making connections with individuals. I love nature, and I enjoy city life pretty much as well.

I probably adore most music existing, seriously.

Movies? I love the classic, and old french films.

Poetry is everything. Fiction intoxicates me as well. And selected letters of the intellectuals I deeply admire also interest me: Plath, Woolf, Hemingway, Gellhorn, de Beauvoir, Camus, Murakami Haruki......

Favorite books? Easy. The HP series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I founded a group with a couple of friends in 2014, creating a space to let students of my high school (Taipei First Girls High School) talk about social/political movements. We've hold lectures, discussion meet-ups, summer/winter camps, and visits to places related to human rights as well.

We've been on news, in papers, gotten attention from many people in the country, and also worked with a lot of great, bright people/organizations that really care about the world. Most importantly, this small group has turned into something influential and has encouraged a lot of teenagers to take action to fight for the values they believe in.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I'm one of the best Chinese teachers I know in person (haha) so if you're interested in catching some phrases in this lovely language, be my friend :) And since I'm an aspiring photographer, I would love to take portraits of you as a gift (if you don't mind, of course.)
