Overview
About Me
I am married with two "Kidults, 19 and 21 " . My husband Richard is a college chemistry teacher and I am a piano teacher. I was a Maths teacher for many years then about 12 years ago turned a lifelong passion into my profession by re-training as a piano teacher. And I just love my job! Sharing music and teaching people to play and enjoy an instrument is the best!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the idea of meeting new people ,making friends and experiencing new things as I travel, rather than the impersonal experience in a chain hotel. Richard and I hope to return the privilege by sharing our home with guests soon.
Interests
I have had many hobbies and interests over the years: playing piano, horse riding, bush walking in Tasmania's stunning wilderness, running, playing squash, swimming, windsurfing, snow skiing ,camping, chess and salsa dancing. I have to admit that the "50 something knees" aren't terribly interested in running, skiing or squash these days and these activities have been pretty much replaced by walking! I also love cooking for friends and family, just hanging out and shoving my nose in a book for a good "binge read"

Music, Movies, and Books
I have wide ranging taste in music, from classical piano, latin jazz, soul, and even some of that "prog rock" that my son inflicts on me! I still love good ol 80's rock. (What's not to like?)
Movie likes are "feel good" movies only! eg Death at a Funeral , what a great movie!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal two years ago.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach anyone to play some songs on the piano, even those people who have never laid hands on a piano before or feel that they are totally unmusical - guaranteed!
I would love to share sight seeing around Hobart and Tasmania, bush walking, cooking, good food, laughs and conversation. And of course, take anyone who cares for a little latin music out for a salsa dance!
