About Me

My name is Cathy and I'm 20 years old. I lived in the Philippines for about 9 years since I was 10. Currently, I'm living in Hamburg, Germany as an au pair(babysitter) and am planning to study in Germany after my au pair term. I was raised in an international community thus I love being around people from different countries and backgrounds! I am often called as a Third Cultured Kid. I enjoy travelling but I didn't get much of a chance to travel in Europe but I am looking forward to it! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I am very interested to travel to new places and meet new people. As an au pair, it is very hard for me to afford hotels or even hostels because my finance is limited. I think Couchsurfing gives great advantages because you get to experience the different home cultures and get to make new friends from different countries! So exciting!!

Interests

I love communicating with people especially from different cultures. I am always eager to learn something or someone new. As to my hobbies, I enjoy reading, going for a walk, exploring, and eating!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like classic, instrumental music. I also listen to current pop musics but I am not very into heavy rock or heavy metal.
I am a movie lover! I love The Lord of the Rings series including Hobbit, Harry Potter series, Star Wars series, and of course, chick flicks! :D
My favorite books at the moment are: Alchemist, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Kite Runner, and Tuesdays with Morrie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled on a ship for three months with 400 people from 60 different countries! The ship is called Logos Hope and it is the most amazing thing I've done in my life! I was able to travel to 6 countries and learned about many different cultures serving in two departments: Pantry and Book Fair. If I get another opportunity to join the ship, I would definitely do it again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some basic words and phrases of English, Korean, Tagalog (language of the Philippines), German!
I am willing to learn different cultures, including languages. I would also be so happy to learn how to cook some home dishes!
I can share my experience and time in the ship aforementioned, or my life in Germany. I can also share some cultural habits of both Korea and the Philippines.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my culture which is a mixture of Korean, Filipino, and my own. :) I am very open to share stories about my countries and myself. I can also share my personality and my beliefs and perspectives of life. :)
