ABOUT ME

I'm nice. Educated, pessimistic optimist and shameless when it comes to achieving a higher purpose like "Excuse me, can you (stop talking to your friend) take a picture of us?" I was always known as the mature one but apparently a more recently acquired friend has clarified his statement of describing me as "you just have to meet her" to be "You are like a grown up 2 year old. In a good way." I guess over time I've learned to start doing exactly what I want without a care for what other people think as long as I'm not hurting anybody. And guess what? So far, so good. After all, I am the girl next door who can eat, get dirty, veg out, probe in unwelcomed places and watch anime/sci-fi/love foreign film/indie all day while making anyone feel right at home. Who could resist that?

PHILOSOPHY

It doesn't matter if the glass is half empty nor half full. What matters is what's in it- avocado smoothie or green tea? Life is too short so learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself. We all come with preset situations but it should never hinder us from seeking happiness and fulfillment. Bertha Calloway said it the best: we cannot control the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attended one of the CS events in Hollywood at Highlands. For now, I would love to find a place to couch surf in Vancouver.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This will be my first time couch surfing although I have entertained some from Poland (I think) with my friend who is a CS member.

Interests

Tennis, watching indie films, French- food, language, culture, dancing salsa, tango, swing and the regular club setting. I also love to eat and am starting to grow an obsession with baking and making desserts.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music of the 20's, Big Bands, 80's, Folksongs, Top 40, Pop, some R & B, some hip hop, reggae (the beat), latin rhythms, some country too. I'm open to a lot except maybe heavy metal.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Hawaii and was coaxed into following a native girl giving her friend the local tour of Hana by going into a cave with only a lighter. I'm sure you can suspect the next thing- the lighter got wet. We had to navigate a pitch black, seemingly bottomless water cave with nothing but a voice to follow (who earlier said that sometimes the cave is completely filled with water and shrimps stay there) to supposedly the other end of the cave which leads to a famous tourist trail. Needless to say, I made it out to tell the story and have a photo to commemorate it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people the basics of argentine tango (as seen in Evita)and salsa. I am always happy to share my love for the Vietnamese cuisine Bo 7 Mon or 7 Courses of Beef. I would love to be able to practice my French.
