CURRENT MISSION
I would rather own little & see the world than own the world and see little of it.
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Catie! I love being around people who can make me laugh until I cry. I like to go out and be social, but I am also perfectly content to spend my nights cooking dinner at home and curled up on the couch reading a book. I read a LOT, and I read quickly, it usually only takes me a couple of hours to finish a book. I can say my ABC's backwards, I play the piano, my dream car is a bright yellow jeep wrangler (a manual, of course!) and one time, I got bit by a rabid cat. I'm not afraid to try new things, and I love adventures and traveling.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been in Europe for 7 months so far, and I've done quite a bit of traveling. I've stayed in hostels, apartments rented from airbnb, and I've couch surfed a couple of times. I've been lucky enough to have had positive experiences with everywhere I've stayed, and for the most part, the trips as a whole have been pretty great! After doing so much traveling this year, though, I've noticed that a lot of times, the sights sort of blend together, and what stands out are the experiences I've had that I wouldn't have ever known about without the help of a local, like visiting a local bar in Italy for 'Happy Hour' that included a drink and buffet of food, where I was able to try the best pizza I've ever had, or going to a really neat cycling and coffee shop in London because my friends cousin's roommate lived there and told us about it. So, even if you can't host me, if you know of something unique I should do or a cool place to visit in your town, please let me know, I'd love to give it a try!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couch surfed in Milan and Brussels, and had a great experience both times. In Milan, a friend and I stayed with two university students who took us out to a bar, introduced us to Negronis, and taught us how to ride long boards in a park in the middle of the night while it was pouring rain. It was my very first couch surfing experience, arranged by the friend I was traveling with, and it was a blast! Once I am back in the USA and I actually have a couch, I definitely plan on being a host, and I hope I can show other couchsurfers a great time in my hometown :)

When I'm not au pairing in Europe, I'm a web and graphic designer, a bartender, an avid book reader, a craft nut, a wine lover, a sailor, and animal lover. I like to dance (badly),
