About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living in Cooktown QLD with my delightful 8 year old Eamon and my dog Chill
ABOUT ME
I am an impulsive individual, I love to travel. I bore easily and as such love to experience new things, especially new cultures. I enjoy the company of others, which is a good thing as am constantly surrounded by a multitude of different personalities on my travels. I have the gift of the gab, which those who know me will tell you, and am up for pretty much anything.
I studied in North QLD in Australia, finishing my medical degree in 2009. 12 months post graduation of hard slog where instead of treating patients I filed paperwork to prevent a negative outcome in the case of future litigation was enough for me to know I needed a break. So I went traveling for a year in 2011, then have since been on/off working and traveling.
My son was born in 2014 and he brings me a whole new set of experiences that blow me out of the water! To say I have since slowed down is an understatement.
PHILOSOPHY
There's nothing you can do in this lifetime that reincarnation won't cure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted a few people prior to travelling 2011, where I met over 40 couchsurfers! I think couchsurfing is a great way to step outside the boring constrictions of a 'normal' life, and love the insight locals have into a tourist destination.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Quite possibly the most hilarious couch surfing experience involved someone my housemate had hosted prior to, being a tour guide, taking off on a 5 day trip at 5am, promising that I would be home from nightshift at 9am to let her out of our house [the front door only locked and unlocked with the key]. She set her alarm diligently for 8:45am. I, meanwhile, unaware of this arrangement arrived home at 8:30am and went straight to sleep. At 10pm when I was leaving for work [having simply woken up, dressed and exited my bedroom] I noticed that the surfer was on the phone speaking in native tongue and I thought not to disturb an important call home, so I just left, locking the door behind me. When I arrived home the following day at 8:30am there was a frantic surfer stating "I've been locked inside for 24 hours!!" At least we had loads of DVDs and an ocean view to entertain her.
Interests
I like to eat, sleep, drink, party, read, play impromptu games of foosball [amongst other lesser known competitive sports], write innocuous blogs cavanchacs.tumblr.com, and other such things... Basically will try anything once if you have any suggestions - recently discovered 'stumble upon' and am addicted.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing: jeez there are too many to list. Probably one of my favourite experiences was being involved in community school screening of a Nepalese population - women and children who had never been seen by a doctor before, I didn't do much other than look at them but the smiles on the faces of these individuals was one of the most rewarding achievements in my lifetime.
