About Me

I grew up in a small town in British Columbia, Canada. I absolutely love my hometown. It's an outdoor-enthusiasts dream and absolutely gorgeous! I've also lived in Vancouver, Halifax and Montreal in Canada.

In 2007 I took a school trip to Europe and that definitely inspired me to travel more. In 2012 I moved to Rome, Italy, for six months and during that time I was lucky enough to be able to travel around Europe. I've now lived in Italy three different times and currently reside in Lucca.

I am outgoing and friendly and like to meet new people and try new things. I love trying different types of foods and exploring. I love to sing, dance and read! Huge fan of hockey and american football. In the past year I've gotten much more into fitness. I've done yoga for years and can now proudly call myself a runner. I am opinionated, caring, kind, empathetic and generous!

PHILOSOPHY

"Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough."€ - Oprah Winfrey

"People are strange: They are constantly angered by trivial things, but on a major matter like totally wasting their lives, they hardly seem to notice." - Charles Bukowski

"€œThere is no skill better to acquire than to be conscious of the present moment, be willing to let go of everything you'€™ve ever learned and jump into a spontaneous, weird and unknown new life. All the planning in the world can never prepare you for the time when you must leap into the unknown all by yourself. Welcome to that moment." - Jackson Kiddard

"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them - that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like."€ - Lao Tzu

An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered. - Gilbert K. Chesterton

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and am up for showing people around beautiful Lucca!

I haven't done a lot of hosting, but I'm hoping to do more in the future!

Interests

I love to read, sing, dance, watch movies/TV, and listen to music. I love to try new things, especially new cuisines! I love meeting new people from diverse cultures so I can learn new things about the places and cultures that they come from!

I love learning new languages! I have studied Spanish, French, and Italian and I have also taken some linguistics courses. I'm interested in all aspects of languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Drive Me Crazy, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Wedding Singer, Can't Buy Me Love. Basically any movie that has a relatively happy ending!

TV Shows: I don't really follow TV shows anymore, but I love home improvement shows of any kind. I watch a ridiculous amount of hockey and american football.

Music: Meat Loaf, Bob Segar, Britney Spears, Arctic Monkeys, and Bruce Springsteen. I am currently loving country music, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Frankie Ballard, Thomas Rhett, Kip Moore, Chase Rice.

Books: Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, The Power of Now, Positivity, The Law of Attraction, The Alchemist, What I Know For Sure, The Untethered Soul, The Desire Map, Spirit Junkie

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving abroad to Rome, Italy, and travelling solo around Europe. Since coming back home I've moved across Canada three times. I'm definitely not afraid of a fresh start/starting over!

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to go to places I never thought I'd go and meet as many different people, from different cultures, as I can. I honestly believe that meeting people that are different from me is one of the best experiences in life. If you come into contact with people who don't view the world the way you do, don't have the same beliefs, don't live by the same rules, then there is so much that you can see, learn, and appreciate in the time that you have together. And the best part is that you may learn something about people or yourself that you will take with you and incorporate into your life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be more than happy to cook for my host! I'm not an expert chef by any means, but I can make a few dishes very well!

Countries I’ve Visited
