About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To break free of socities standards by living in a sustainable way

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that if I haven't been to a place I want to go there. If I haven't tried a food I want to taste it. If I haven't bungee jumped before I am willing to take that leap. This world is here for us to live in and as a resident I want to experience it in every way. At the same time we all need to be here for the world and not just take advantage of it because we can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love meeting new people, I want to see the world from other people's perspectives. I love traveling and know how hard it can be to find a place to sleep when you are backpacking. I think you should always be ready and willing to help another person.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had very few couch surfing experiences. I have generally stayed in hostels, but I am hoping to change that this summer with a backpacking trip I am partaking on the East Coast of the United States. The lone experience I have had was when I went to Santa Cruz and slept on the couch of someone I somewhat knew. It was a great experience the two days I was there. They showed me around and took me to local spots to see live music. We then stayed up most of the night having great conversation.

Interests

Writing, reading, photography are three of my main interests. I love going hiking and know most of the trails throughout the immediate area. I like nighttime excursions .

Music, Movies, and Books

I am an avid book reader. I love John Steinbeck, Hemmingway and Fitzgerald. I mostly read either classics or books on history. Right now I am reading Dickens.
Music wise I am all over the map. My three favorite genres are underground hip hop, indie music and classic rock. I love Bob Dylan. I can't get enough of the Kinks, Modest Mouse, A Tribe Called Quest, Mf Doom, the Killers. I listen to a lot of the underground hip hop artists from California like the Living Legends, Hieroglyphics, the Pharcyde, Murs, etc. I am also a huge fan of the Hold Steady, the New Pornographers, the Shins, Kimya Dawson, Iron & Wine and Frightened Rabbit. I also continually listen to Gogol Bordello and Flogging Molly.
Right now I am completely enamored with Lisa Hannigan.

Movie wise I will watch just about anything. I like movies that aren't usually the big Hollywood movies. I also enjoy funnily bad horror movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Phoenix, Arizona for a weekend and I decided to drive the the Grand Canyon during the day to see it for the first time. I had no idea that because I left at 12 pm I was basically making it into an all day trip. By the time I got up there it was almost dark and I decided to drive around the southern edge to find a place where there weren't so many people. I parked and was lucky enough to see it at sunset. It was magical to experience the Canyon while the sky was holding so many shades of colors as the sun fell under the horizon.
