About Me

I was born and grew up in wonderful Colombia. Luck had me then move to Germany, where I live and work now.
Feel free to hit me up. I'm always available for any adventure of any size and shape!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It started with great and touching stories friends shared with me about CS. I then made my own few experiences and can't wait for more to come!
As I live in a student dorm I don't have a couch to offer, but don't hesitate in hitting me up should you be in town. I'd be glad to give you tips and hints where I can as well as sharing some meat and mead.

Interests

How stuff works. Be it the pen next to you, the pencil next to it, your means of commuting and oneself of course. I can get lost in anything really, independently of the approach or point of view. Thing is, you do need certain amount of knowledge to get somewhere realistic during your mind trips - which brings me to learning. Once I shake off my laziness every now and then I swallow books and try and soak up as much knowledge and wisdom as I can from them.
I also enjoy discussing ideas, the weirder, outer of the box the better. Yes. I'm looking at you, back&table-flippin' rainbow barfin' caterpillar-bred orange platypus.
I love TED talks, be sure not to miss out on them!

Music, Movies, and Books

I pretty much read all I get my hands on. Really, should you have any book, no matter its genre or style that blew your mind - let me know. I'd hate to deprive myself from experiencing existence from the point of view of somebody who was able to picture it in an engaging manner.
Lately I've going back to my roots. Meaning, I've been reading several latino masterpieces written by Gabriel Garcia Marques, RIP :( and Paulo Coelho which made me able to understand better where I come from. You might wanna start with "One Hundred Years of Solitude". Thank me later.
I also had heavy reading flashes on the entire Ender series by Orson Scott Card. They get really philosophical actually and yeah... stay away from the movie. The Ringworld book series is also pretty neat!
If you're just looking for something mind, consciousness-expanding check out "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell, or "Free Will" by Sam Harris. Careful though, it's gonna shake your world and your perception of every.thing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After I was finished with German high-school I wasn't ready to join university just yet. What I did instead is I simply Enterd The Void (triiippy movie) and went to China on my own for the duration of a year. It started off pretty shitty with an internship where I ended up quitting pretty soon, to then teach English in kindergartens. It's there were I got my favorite nickname yet, which I still use (Mr. Cbass). The story is rather touching, so I'll need a beer or wine to be able to get it out adequately ;)

Now comes the good part.
I worked a lot in the kindergartens and thus manage to simply go non-stop backpacking for several months within China. Everyone should do it at some point. Just go out there and let the road guide you. It's the feeling you get is indescribably gripping and beautiful. Staying in any one place or city as long as it feels like, finding out on the way where you'll head off to next. Huh, I wonder what I'd have been like if I'd known about CS back then
