Around-the-world honeymoon
ABOUT ME
My (new) husband and I are joining couch surfing for our around-the-world honeymoon!
Patrick and I met in 2004 while studying Astrophysics in Halifax, Canada. We've since lived in Montreal and Hamilton, Canada. We got married on August 11, 2012, and are now traveling the world, for as long as we can, before settling down and starting a family.

PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is to never be jealous of other people. If they've done something you really feel jealous about, work towards that and do it for yourself!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've never done couch surfing, but have participated in SERVAS, which is a similar concept. I love meeting new people, and getting a chance to talk to locals while I'm in a new place, to make sure I visit all the best areas a city has to offer!
I also love receiving travellers, hearing their stories, and directing them to the right spots in town.
Interests
My husband/travel buddy and I love sports (soccer, hockey, rugby, etc) and the great outdoors. We also love history and museums, and learning about new cultures.
Being physicists, we are also interested in science stuff!

Music, Movies, and Books
I've read so many good books these pas few years, I can't even list them. But I did really enjoy Last Call: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition. If you can get your hands on it, read it! Especially if you are in North America.
During our trip, we are getting a lot of reading done! And we are keeping track of what we are reading at http://patrickandclaire.com/books. We're trying to read books about/from the country in which we are.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I travelled through Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos for two months, and it was AMAZING. I strongly recommend it to anyone! And don't be intimidated: it's a lot easier to travel in those parts of the world than you might think. So save up, and do it!
Teach, Learn, Share
We can teach you everything you've ever wanted to know (but were afraid to ask?) about physics!
But mostly we can't wait to travel around the world and learn about different cultures and areas, and talk to fellow travellers about it. I love this motto of couch surfing, Teach. Learn. Share, because that's always the best part of a trip!
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, China, Cuba, France, Greece, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russian Federation, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam
