About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live well. Laugh often. Love much.

ABOUT ME

I am a laid back and easy going person, but I'm always up for an adventure. I enjoy meeting new people and look forward to new experiences. I love a good challenge, appreciate an interesting conversation, love to learn and enjoy surprises. I care about our environment, and am a vegan.

PHILOSOPHY

"Carpe Diem!"
- I believe we only get one shot at it, so I want to make the most of the time I've got

"To thine own self be true"
- Be yourself, love yourself, follow your heart

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I learned about couchsurfing when I started backpacking around Europe and it has completely changed the way I travel. From my very first experience I have been blown away by the hospitality and generosity shown to me. I have met so many amazing people and I think learning about a place through the eyes of someone who knows it first hand is such an awesome opportunity. I've just recently moved to the beautiful town of Golden, so I am really looking forward to returning the kindness!

Interests

I love to travel and I'm always up for any sort of outdoor activity. Whether it's hiking, biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, running, camping, skating or skiing - you can count me in! I love other sports as well. I play fastball, volleyball and basketball so I’m always game to join in. I love eating and trying new food. I enjoy cooking, reading, and just chilling with a good group of people. I love learning about, and experiencing different cultures, and I'm always excited for a bit of live music.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read!! I don't even know where to begin... I've recently read Three Cups of Tea, Stones into Schools, Any Known Blood, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Flyng Troutmans (it's hilarious!), In Defense of Food, EcoWarriors, The Last Lecture and Silent Spring. They're all very different, but I highly recommend each of them.

Music - Band of Horses, Avett Brothers, The National, Arcade Fire, Wintersleep, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, Regina Spektor, Tegan and Sara, Boy and Bear, The Jezabels, The Tragically Hip, Great Big Sea, Natalie MacMaster, Leahy, Ashley MacIsaac, (pretty much anything Canadian East Coast), Flogging Molly, Simon and Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac... I like a pretty wide variety of music.

Movies - The Last of the Mohicans, Dances with Wolves, Braveheart, Girl With a Pearl Earring... I really love these four. I have a terrible memory for movies though. I can watch a film and then a few days later not remember anything about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was traveling in Malaysia, I had the opportunity to do a homestay with a Malay family. I stayed in a small traditional village where I was completely immersed in their culture and lifestyle. It was a Muslim village so I also learned a lot about their beliefs and practices. It was amazing to experience a society that is so completely different than my own. I absolutely loved the time I spent in Tok Song Kut and I feel extremely fortunate that they welcomed me into their homes and families.
