About Me

I’m in Al Ain, NOT Dubai!
CURRENT MISSION To Host People from all over the world! ABOUT ME 1st: IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COUCH, PLEASE send me a REQUEST and NOT a message. I'm Ceanlia [Sie-an-lea] a Daughter, Mother, Sister, Friend, Teacher and Toast Master... I seek knowledge & wisdom. I’m a simple, un-complicated,down-to-earth, Happy-Go-Lucky Dyslexic, ADHD (hyperactive) woman enjoying Hosting and meeting people from all over the world. PHILOSOPHY My name has given me inspirational, idealistic, and dramatic qualities. If I had to summarise myself in one word it would be Bohemian: A person with artistic or literacy interest who disregards conventional standards of behaviour. My Motto: Umuntu ungumuntu ngabantu - a person is a person because of other people. If you want to achieve what you want to achieve, help other people achieve what they want to achieve. I have a clever, deep mind and the talent to excel in highly inspirational lines of endeavor as a dramatist, writer and artist. I'm lifted by beauty in all forms and are the most creative when inspired. My expressive, affectionate nature responds quickly through my feelings.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING First of all I would like to tell you that I am not available as a travel companion because I am working full time and have other responsibilities. I Love to meet new and interesting people surfing on my couch but I am Not able to go off to a drink or a coffee with random people who visit Abu Dhabi or being a tour guide through Abu Dhabi (or UAE)... BUT... if I should have the time, mostly on weekends, it will be my pleasure to show you around. Desert safari's is quite famous here and I have good driver as a contact. I can take you around the city in my car...and yes, I am flexible with different types of personalities. So, if you think of sending me a message to invite me for a coffee, dinner, sightseeing or hang out in Al Ain (during the week) save your time and look for somebody else! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A COUCH, PLEASE send me a REQUEST and NOT a mesage. I will NOT anser these messages anymore. Couchsurfing created the REQUEST button to do so! In your Request use the work "Lekker". I'm NOT in the centre of Al Ain, but the end close to the border. You might want to check the area on google map. Again, I'm a teacher working full time so, if you are looking for someone exploring Al Ain and surroundings with you I might only have time on weekends (Friday and Saturday). I have 2 couches and one single blow up mattress, so enough space for 2/3 surfers. I don't smoke but you are allowed to do so outside, just clean up afterwards. I provide clean bed sheets, towels, soap and shampoo. I'm looking forward meeting you! Something for you to read: http://francistapon.com/Travels/Advice/How-to-be-a-Good-Couchsurfing-Guest-and-Host COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I have not surfed yet, so I'm currently just hosting and I'm loving the experience and this amazing invention from CS. I've started actively hosting in April 2014 and so far have hosted amazing people. I love to see my house full of life and fun and I Love meeting different kinds of people with diverse backgrounds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Things I've Done/Seen in Dubai:
The Burj Al Arab's seven-star rating may be an urban myth that got out of hand, but nothing dominates the Dubai skyline and tourists' imagination quite like it. The only way to get inside without paying for a room is to book a table at one of the hotel's costly eateries. Al Muntaha is on the top floor and I enjoyed a meal there with family members...

While vast swaths of the city have been demolished in the relentless drive toward the future, one neighborhood harks back to the quiet fishing village that once was. The Bastakia Quarter which squeezes itself between the Dubai Creek and the buzzing Bur Dubai district, is a mini maze of wind-towered buildings, a clutch of which have been transformed into art galleries and cafés. I've met Mr Bastakia with my 1st surfer and it was "unforgettable"!!!

I had Iftar at Bab Al Shams in 2013.

A visit to the desert isn't as peaceful as you'd think. The desolate Sahara (my country's desert) this is not.
The easiest way to get at the dunes outside the city is on a four-wheel-drive safari. The tours are incredibly popular, but your enjoyment will depend on your tolerance for a) being thrown around the sand in a Jeep, b) touristy BBQs in the desert replete with a belly dancer and henna painting services and c) lots of other tourists. If you can handle all three, I have just the driver for you.

A trip to the Burj Khlaifa – Dubai is the ONLY place you can visit the world’s tallest building. Best place to get a bird’s eye view of the city.

Burj Khalifa, complete your evening with a walk over to the Souq Al Behar and have dinner overlooking the Dubai Fountains.

Most visitors are wildly curious about Emiratis – the natives in Dubai. The best place to get up close and personal with them is at the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding. I've been there 2x.

Each of Dubai’s souqs is an authentic, unique shopping experience located in the Deira and Burj Dubai areas of Dubai. On one side of the Dubai Creek you can visit the Spice Souq, and the Gold Souq and then ride an abra across the Dubai Creek to visit the Textile Souq.

Meena Bazaar , one of the last thriving authentic outdoor shopping experiences with open streets and narrow alleyways, is located on the Burj Dubai side of the Creek. Here you will find a virtual cacophony of men’s and women’s fashions, jewelry, restaurants and takeaway stands.

I've always been a horse person, but UAE camels are such lovable, cuddly animals with beautiful expressive faces. After my 1st meeting with 3 camels on the road, I was totally in Love... they are now my Nr 1!

I've been to the Dubai Camel Racing Track off E66 just beyond the Sevens Rugby Stadium. They don't use jockey's... they use robots!

Teach, Learn, Share

Show you around. Have a braai (BBQ) the Afrikaans way. Share about life in South Africa & Dubai & Abu Dhabi & Al Ain. I can show you how to make an amazing omelet. Being positive and saving people form life's woes as we have all had our ups and downs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do a great Braai (BBQ) or can cook you a meal (with a South African flavoring if we have the ingredients) or I can create something or make my one speciality: a Ceanlia omelet.
I'd love to dance with you or to hike and do outdoor activities with you.
I love drumming...
I love telling stories especially one's from South Africa or made up :) I'm a story-teller.

If you want to I'll also do the dishes or water your flowers!
I have a great ear and love to listen to other people's life stories... I'm a real optimist... Always seeing the glass as 1/2 ful.
I'm a real artist and just love to paint... We can do art therapy together ... Or just let go and paint.
I can help you out with what ever help you might need (I'll try my best).
I'll keep my area clean and tidy.
