About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Appreciation of life without complacency. Seek the beauty, humor, and irony of the world and to inspire and be inspired by people.

ABOUT ME

Easy going, whimsical, creative and passionate. I enjoy making art, music, dancing, learning languages, wine, beer, tequila, cooking, reading, bike ride, city walks, hikes, yoga, museums, adventures and little things...ongoing jokes with friends, animals, finding faces in food and trees.

I thoroughly enjoy my job- teaching high school students. They are keeping me young, at heart anyway.

PHILOSOPHY

Be cool, but care. I stole that one from Brandon (my husband)
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I hold few strong convictions. I don't believe in truth, as an absolute, but I do believe in honesty. I draw upon Buddhism's reverence for compassion and tolerance, and acceptance of the impermanent nature of reality. Life is a journey not a destination. Keep trucking, inward, onward, and upwards.
Stay light.

Music, Movies, and Books

So many. Foreign movies, documentaries, dramas, comedies, independent, or quirky. Brandon is really into studying film. I enjoy them, but often forget the names. Last good movie I watched: Ex Machina

I am crazy about music. Addicted may not be too strong a word. I like all types of tunes from harder rock to folk, reggae, world music, funk, hip hop and electronic.

I mostly read fiction. But I promised myself I'd finish People´s History of The United States, by Howard Zinn. Some of the authors I like:

Victor Pelevin, Joy Williams, Haruki Murakami, John Updike, Margaret Atwood, Don Delillo, George Saunders, Nabokov, Iris Murdoch, David Mitchell, Arundhati Roy, Aravind Adiga, Dave Eggers, Salman Rushdie, George Orwell, Barbara Kingsolver, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Robert M Pirsig, Herman Hesse, Milan Kundera

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent several months living on Lake Atitlán, in San Pedro La Laguna, in Guatemala. Those were beautiful days, sunrise and sunset, afternoon downpours, drifting lazily in a kayak and hearing the noises of the village echoing in the mountains. I practiced yoga every morning, painted and studied Spanish in the afternoon. It was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy sharing and collaborating with other artists and teaching art internationally. And the English language.
