Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world, and meet great people while doing so!

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm a twenty year old student from New York City. I can't think of any place better (in the United States) to be learning. I haven't travelled as much as I would like--not even close. There are so many places to see and people to meet. In New York, I love to see foreign films at independent theaters, discover new restaurants and coffee shops, laugh with friends, and lay in Central Park with a great book. I would love to have the opportunity to better my French. I'm afraid I don't have the opportunity to use it as much as I would like.

PHILOSOPHY

Take some time out to stop, breathe, and enjoy the scenery. (I'm trying to do this one more myself.)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The more I explore the CS website, the more excited I become about all the possibilities. I see tourists in New York and know that I wouldn't want to look like them in a different country. Using CS, I feel that you can really be a traveller by meeting people who can show you the finer points of their country: restaurants, cultural centers, hidden gems.

I cannot wait until I'm in a position to be able to host. New York is so much more than Times Square and the Statue of Liberty. It's the little bookshops you find on side streets, small coffee shops that have great biscotti, film centers that show independent films, parks where everyone comes together. The list could go on and on.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but I'm anticipating some great memories.

Algo increíble que he hecho

When I was little, my family always went to Block Island during the summer. We did the touristy thing--went to the beach, ate at the restaurants in the center of town, watched people rent mopeds. On my twelfth birthday, I told my aunt (who I was on the trip with) that I wanted to have an adventure. We left the house in her car with a map of the island and a video camera and proceeded to discover more of the island than I thought possible. Block Island is a little under ten square miles and I thought we'd seen mostly everything. I was wrong. We drove by secluded farms where people kept horses, houses hidden away from the tourist activity (this was right at the beginning of the real estate boom there), and dirt roads that led to secluded beaches. We spent a good deal of time in the island cemetery where the original settlers of the island are buried. It was great to get off the beaten path--literally--and see something different about a place I thought I knew so well. There's always something else to be discovered.
