About Me

After I graduated in architecture and urban planning, I started working with architecture specialized in retrofit on old and abandoned buildings in the center of São Paulo. I really like my job, but I decided to quit to have a new experience working with urban planning, a theme that I have always been interested in, for it connects politics, social questions and design on urban scale. I like to know new cities and study and understand how they work and develop.

At the moment I'm between jobs and want to take time to travel to Japan, a country that I have always wanted to know and an idea that I have been developing for some time. I will arrive in Japan in March and I will travel for 3 months around it without a pre script, but with some tips and wishes.

I've traveled very much, but this is the first time that I go out of my continent. That means more risks, new languages, new challenges and also new opportunities. Going to the other side of the world I expect to get in touch with a very different culture from mine, and I want to try the food and speak the language.
I like to walk by the streets and get lost between the most frequented sites and also those that don't appears on the guides. I like to talk to new people, to sit on squares and go to cafés and bars.

I like literature very much. This year I started to study Letters on University of São Paulo as my second graduation. I don't intend to change my occupation, but to enhance my knowledge by reading and the words that I always had.
I also like arts very much. Painting, dancing, theater, cinema, architecture, photography. I like to draw and I expect that in this trip I will do this frequently.

There is a Bertolucci movie called "The Sheltering Sky", where the main character makes a distinction between the tourist and the traveler. The tourist, he said, is the one that arrives in a place already thinking about his return, that consumes the main points quickly and goes back to his own land. The traveler, on the other hand, is the one that doesn't have to hurry, who wants to enjoy each place, know the people and the manners.
I like to travel like a traveler and that I can use my trip time without speed, being able to stay on a little town only because it enchanted me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My next objective is to visit Japan, and since I don't know anyone in that country, I thought it would be a good idea to make contacts through here.
