About Me
Hello fellow Couchsurfers! My name is Cecily.
My love of travel has led me to many places, and I hope to keep discovering the world for as long as I can. Currently, I live and work in West Virginia, which is where I grew up most of my life other than a few years in SoCal. My heart is pushing me toward New Mexico, and I hope that will be my next big move. Until then, I'll just keep exploring!
I am a very easy-going optimist with a great appreciation for laughter, creativity, and kindness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing shaped my perceptions of the world from an early age, as my father allowed hosts to come to our home starting when I was about 12. My most memorable experience with a Couchsurfer was when we had a guy from Belarus staying with us working on his documentary to figure out what love meant to people from all around the world. It was life-changing in retrospect to be able to experience not only a new human from a different culture but to ponder metaphysical questions as a young girl.
Today, I enter the Couchsurfing world in an effort to search for other people longing for deeper connections, find unconventional lifestyles, learn about new cultures, and to have all around better conversations with other humans on this earth. I want to learn about how different we all are!

Music, Movies, and Books
BOOKS: All books by Elif Shafak are in my top favorites, but I especially love "The Forty Rules of Love".
Friedrich Nietzsche - "Human, All Too Human: A Book for Free Spirits"
Gregory David Roberts - "Shataram" and "The Mountain Shadow"
Chimimanda Adiche- "Half of a Yellow Sun"
FILM: I am a sucker for cheesy horror films (and super scary ones, too!)
MUSIC: Tycho, Bonobo, Portugal. The Man, Weval, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Nicolas Jaar, Nicola Cruz, Stavroz, Darkside, Skinshape, Shiba San, MGMT, Mashrou Leila, Romare, Caribou, Glass Animals, Kings of Leon... I love music so much and am open to learning about all types!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
With the help of my dear friend, I coordinated a large-scale mural on West Virginia University's campus located in Morgantown, West Virginia. It was a creative feat for both of us using his artistic talent and my organizational power. We are still very proud to this day, and our town has seen many public art projects pop up since then.
Teach, Learn, Share
My New Years resolution entering 2019 was to focus on art, photography, and music. With that being said, I have picked up all three this year in different ways, one of which being newfound passion for DJing. Learning more about this craft is exciting, and teaching what I already know would be loads of fun, too! I also know a few things about art direction, modeling, and photography that I would love to share with folks!
