About Me

My name is Cedar and I prefer gender neutral pronouns. I was born in New York; I am a barefooter; and I am a traveling SCAdian bard (medieval performer and storyteller). I've learned that when you travel, you get the most out of it by meeting the locals, eating the food and sampling the alcohol.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to learn and meet fantastic people. A hotel is a sterile environment, disconnected and convenient. I enjoy a more personal environment, a challenge, and a chance to hear the stories I wouldn't normally hear in a hotel.

Interests

I study theatre and have been performing since the age of five. I plan to go into combat and stunt choreography. I am a bard in the SCA(Society for Creative Anachronism). I am a writer with a fondness for books and tea. I enjoy cooking, hiking, the odd party or club, games, and picking up new instruments despite the mournful cries of my wallet.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes are very wide. My preferences in films and books are fairly fantastical, sci-fi, adventure, historical, etc. If there's a limit to how many times you should read The Hobbit, I'm sure I've exceeded it...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once led a topless protest and through it upgraded institutional policies of gender equality.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am friendly and open-minded. As a bard, I can share stories, sing you songs (Viking drinking song anyone?) and listen to yours as well. I am more than happy to help with a few chores. Before Couchsurfer, I once helped a host invite a very snarky squirrel OUT of her home, so a little nature-control isn't too far out of my repertoire. I also make a right good cup of hot chocolate.
