About Me

Hey there!

So as you can see I am from Germany, to be pricese from the beautiful town of Freiburg, which is located near the French and Swiss border and next to the Black Forest. I grew up in a small town named Bad Kreuznach and moved to Freiburg for my studies. Speaking about my studies: I am enrolled in the very first Liberal Arts (and Sciences) program at a German public university. My major is Governance and I'm quite happy with it. I've just finished an awesome, but very cold year in Montreal as an exchange student. Motreal is a great city, which you should definitely visit (during summer).

I enjoy spending the evening/night going out, watching a movie or having a glass of wine with my friends. My perfect night is a warm summer night with a bottle of wine in a park.

I love to travel and I try to do it as much as I can, but there are of course things that limit this, above all time and money. I like to go to places I know very little about, since I belive I can learn a lot by visiting these places. Next up on my list are Iran, Myanmar and Mongolia.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like the idea of sharing your space with people from different places of the world, getting to know them and sharing experiences. My experiences have been great and some people inspired me to go to places I hadn't thought of before.

I also like the concept of sharing your place without charging money, which is contrary to the trend of monetarizing and giving a price to everything. I believe couchsurfing can be a place where you simply trust oneanother to give back as much as you can to the community.

Interests

As my university major already indicates, I am quite interested in politics. I've been active in different political organizations for a few years now, including the youth organization of the German green party, the high school student association of my home state, and other organizations or projects. There are two things that motivate me to keep on doing this: 1) I believe that I can make a very tiny little difference and 2) it has always been a lot of fun doing these things.

I also like travelling, but I guess that's pretty much true for everyone one chouchsurfing so I won't go into detail on this one ;)

If you like talking about philosophy, I'm totally in! I'm not someone who needs to make every conversation necessarily about the great moral questions of life, but I enjoy philosophical conversations from time to time. After all, how to lead a good and meaningful life is probably the mist important question of all.

Music, Movies, and Books

That's a difficult one! I like european cinema, particularly Scandinavian and French movies. But of course there are also many good German movies that I could recommend to you (e.g. Oh Boy, Die Fetten Jahre sind vorbei).

Book-wise I really like the novely by Nick Hornby and some German authors. But I don't really have a favorite author. I trying to get into French literature right now.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I visisted Burkina Faso with a group of young people from different european countries. The trip was part of a project of the European Union and we got to visit remote villages and NGOs that try to support the local communities. This was a real once-in-a-lifetime experience - you never get to meet those people otherwise!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to share and exchange experiences, opinions and views with people I meet. I think a casual conversation can be the best environement to learn about new things and to enlarge your horizon. People I met through couchsurfing have inspired me to do many things I would never have though about before.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
