ABOUT ME

Born in south east Germany, gone for Western Germany in 1988 when Germany was still devided... Lived in quite a few places in Germany... spend half a year in Saudi Arabia when I was 14 which was very much fun... Apart from Germany I have worked in Switzerland, England and Sweden. Right now I hope to finish my studies soon, started first with Physics, switched to mechanical engineering in between and now I am back to Physics...

I guess I am very typical german in my way... I like travelling since I am alive... my parents did very much hiking and skiing when I was younger... Guess this somehow influenced my life :)

I would like to do much more hiking and skiing, to be honest, I didn't do much in this field during the last few years... but I am planning to be back :)

For a long time I have concentrated in travelling within Europe and regions which are next to the places I used to live... many time one is going out for elsewhere not even knowing the own surrounding...

I think there are interesting places all around the world... for me it is very essential to find a way into the different cultures... this means to get to know people living there and their ways of living... trying to get the feeling...

Most of the time I feel like home somewhere having stayed there for a short period of time, sometimes maybe one night... For example having stayed for a few weeks in Lund/Sweden I felt like coming home a few month later when I returned also I did not even have a flat there... it is always nice returning to places one has been before but of course the goal is to discover new things first...

I heard about couchsurfing a few times before I finally decided to open an account after travelling through Syria in 2009 meeting a guy from Spain who was doing couchsurfing all the time...
