About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To have a positive impact on this world - we want our relationship to inspire others.
ABOUT ME
Eric and I met on the internet in 1993, so we believe in its power to bring people together - that's why this couch surfing thing is so cool!
PHILOSOPHY
I consider myself a humanistic misanthrope, if that makes any sense. I love people and hate them at the same time. However, I believe that if you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem so, like Gandhi, I try to be the change I'd like to see in the world. We are both strong idealists who believe in just being nice and having integrity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have been CS members for a few years now, and we've met a lot of cool people!! I have yet to couchsurf, but Eric couchsurfed with several people on his business trip to CA, and he had a great time!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
While I have rarely been a couch surfer, we have had MANY friends stay with us. For a long time, we were known as Hotel Schulte! Actually, now that I think about it, it makes sense that I participate in CS, because my family owned a motel while I was growing up. Luckily, I've outgrown my hatred for changing sheets. However, I still don't get along well with toilets.
We've never had a bad experience with our couchsurfers. I'm fairly introverted and private, so I'm always a bit freaked out before people get to my house, but once they walk in, they just about always feel like people I've known for a long time. Weird how that works out!
Interests
Eric and I like to play music and sing. We have a bunch of guitars and a piano, a flute, small bongos.... We both sing barbershop. We also like to play video games, and Eric is into anime and all things Japanese. We have 6 parrots and 2 dogs. Yeah, 6 parrots DOES sound like a lot, doesn't it? Well, we used to have 9. Three of them are ours, and the others were either given to us or rescued. We live in the Bible Belt, but don't buy into the whole religion scam. I like to read. Actually, it's more like I HAVE to read. If I had no books, I'd probably starve to death, because I can't eat without reading! Speaking of eating, we are both vegetarians. I'm also big into the Myers-Briggs. My friends call it my bible. I finally became certified in it last year. I'm an INFP, and Eric is an ENFP.

Music, Movies, and Books
We don't tend to watch a lot of movies. Probably because we are on the internet a lot. We saw Book of Mormon (the play) a few months ago and LOVED it!!!!
We like all kinds of music, but mainly alternative. Eric likes Japanese music (J-pop), and my iPod is full of an eclectic mixture: Abba, Live, The Cars, Weird Al, Pavarotti, Eminem, Apocalyptica, Death Cab, Flight of the Conchords, John Denver, Katy Perry, Pearl Jam.....I could go on.
Books: Eric doesn't read very much, but I tend to read non-fiction books that make me think.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I delivered my friend's baby. On purpose. Eric says his most amazing thing is meeting me. He's mushy that way.
Teach, Learn, Share
Eric and I are both natural teachers, and we love to learn new things. I always have a project going. I brown-bagged my bathroom walls, and I taught myself how to do needle felting. If you just want to learn a few chords on the guitar, or how to play Clocks by Coldplay on the piano, I'm good for that. I love to share things about the Myers-Briggs, too. Eric knows a lot about computers and video games. And he's way better at the guitar, even though I'm the one who taught him to play. I'm open to just about anything anyone would want to teach me!
