I am a Turkish student who ended up in Portugal chasing an Erasmus dream and stayed for the pastéis de nata ✈️. By day I write code that processes thousands of events per second. By night I am probably in a city I have never been to, talking to strangers, and pretending I know what I am doing
I study aeronautical engineering and computer science, which basically means I spent years learning how things fly and then decided software was more interesting. Now I build real-time systems, train machine learning models on particle physics data, and occasionally remember to sleep 😅.
I have lived in Istanbul my whole life and then suddenly did not. Moving to Coimbra alone taught me that discomfort is just growth in disguise, and that Portuguese people will always give you directions even when they are not entirely sure where the place is.
I travel because sitting still makes me suspicious of myself 🧳. I am curious about how people live, what they eat for breakfast, what they argue about, and what makes them proud of where they are from. I would rather have one real conversation than ten tourist photos.
If you host me, I will probably ask too many questions, make you Turkish coffee if you have the equipment ☕, and leave your place cleaner than I found it.

I once spent 3 hours lost in Lisbon because I refused to open Google Maps. Best afternoon of my life. That is basically my travel philosophy: get lost, find something real, talk to the person who lives there. Hotels feel like watching a city through glass. Couchsurfing feels like actually touching it

Books:Russian literature has my whole heart. Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov. The kind of books that make you sit quietly for ten minutes after finishing a chapter because you need to recover.

Went to Berlin alone with a backpack and no real plan. That city does something to you. The history is everywhere, not just in museums but in the streets, the buildings, the silences between things. I walked for hours without a destination, stumbled into galleries I had never heard of, sat in cafes where I could not read the menu, and had conversations with strangers I still think about. Berlin taught me that solo travel is not lonely, it is the loudest version of yourself you will ever meet
