Overview
About Me
I work in environmental engineering and dabble in other related fields like natural stream restoration, hydrology and stormwater management. My graduate degree is in Public Policy so I can bore you with science and politics!
I'm also an amateur musician so if neither of these things are your jam I'm always happy to shut up and sing along instead.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I stayed with couch surfers all over Europe and host families in Belgium, Rivière-du-Loup, QC and when I lived in the Nkhata Bay District of Malawi in Sub-Saharan Africa. There's no better way to immerse yourself in a new culture and meet new people.
Interests
I get teased by friends that having hobbies is my hobby. I'm a naturalist (though not in the British sense) and love the outdoors, camping, boating, skiing, sailing, kayaking, hiking, climbing, hunting, and fishing. I like to cook and have tried my hand at (semi-successfully) roasting green coffee and brewing a variety of beverages. I also come from a family of musicians and sing bass in an a cappella pop group as well as dabbling in a few instruments.
The ukulele is usually what I end up travelling with for convenience.
Finally, despite not being very flexible I've practiced yoga on and off for the last 6 years (and it took me about a year to finally touch my toes).

What I Can Share with Hosts
I love cooking and entertaining and would be happy to plan meals together with my hosts. Additionally, I am a big fan of giving through music and with a bit of encouragement (or an offer to sing-along!) I'm always happy to share music with others.
Finally, I've just begun recording a yet unnamed and unpublished podcast of interviews with people I've met while travelling. If you have great stories about where you live, or have lived that you'd like to share please let me know!
