About Me

I'm Manu, a young Italian guy in love with travelling and being "contaminated" by other people, by their passions, cultures, thoughts. I used to do athletics and play drums in a band, while now I love hiking and skitouring. Since 2018 living in Switzerland, and sometimes traveling back to my hometown in Italy (Monza, near Milan).

I got my degree in Energy Engineering in October 2009 and then I decided to take a break in Australia, my gap year. I visited plenty of places, met great people, did work in cattle farms or drove in the outback admiring kangaroos jumping in front of my car at 5 am. Only when I was satisfied, regenerated, was the right time to get back and start my work experience.

I would say as a salesman I need somehow to satisfy customers everyday. some are really demanding or complaining... then we deserve a big holiday.
but you won't find me in a hotel or resort, I would be mainly with my backpack. I learnt it needs to be light, almost empty so that I can "feed" it and fill it up while travelling.
Not too many plans. I love to change / switch them with different ones if I see there something that could give me more!

I really fell in love with my real first couchsurfing experience. It was in Indonesia (2013). I shared house, sometimes beds, sometimes only a cup of coffee with locals. But in each single case it gave me a lot. People who where strangers just 5 mins before became in short like good friends from high school. We talked about life, job, love, religion.
After that i did travel in Vietnam in 2016 and Japan in 2017. Same as above!

CURRENT MISSION
I am currently living my "new" life, in Switzerland. Same Company, different job, big change as a country and language. Need to learn German for sure!
And planning to be more and more outdoor in the future.

PHILOSOPHY Do the best you can, be flexible, good things will come back to you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS when I was in Australia but actually had my first experience in Bali.
You will find everything above. Pls take time to read it!

Interests

Since I was a kid I'm a supporter of Inter Milan football team.
My grandparents were.
But by far I prefer hiking and being outdoor, no matter summer or winter season :)
I surfed in Australia and Canary Islands and I'd like to try again.

I know English, bit of Spanish and French and of course Italian. Now working on German since I leave in Switzerland.
But also tried to learn something in Indonesia by my friends!

Finally I love both land (I mean agriculture) and engineering. Was not clear to me which one to study at Uni. At the end I decided for math and engineering but land / food are still on my target, maybe for the future.
When the sun is shining, I would be outdoor to take its kiss.

Music, Movies, and Books

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
I simply love how she described the beast, rejected from society, back to wild nature.

Music genre:
plenty! And open to experiment and discover new bands.
Grew up with it. Played guitar and drums. Sometimes I don't even care too much about words, I take more from the melody itself. and feel the rhythm.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

4 days skitouring from hut to hut, in Switzerland.

What I Can Share with Hosts

At first, can offer my time when you come and visit , mainly during the weekends or in the evening after work.
My apartment is right in town Schaffhausen, few minutes from train station. And 35’ from Zurich by public transportation.
I could share my friends and walk you around, Zurich or countryside, or even for a more serious mountain hike.
Finally I would show you about how to cook traditional Italian "risotto" and would be glad to learn from you as well.
