About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To photograph all species of Latvian butterflies.
ABOUT ME
I'm 189,5 cm tall, skinny biologist from Latvia :) Kinda shy, so mostly I rather prefer listening than talking - which probably is kinda cool if the person who couches me, is busy person and can't spend lot of time with me when i'm surfing. But of course I have nothing against and really enjoy good conversations (with or without couple beers or wine) - and maybe some partying occasionally, but I'm not really a club 'party-monster' so most likely I will decline 'Hey, let's go to a club tonight' type offers :)
PHILOSOPHY
Don't panic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm new to CouchSurfing.com, so I do not have any experience neither about couching and surfing. But you know - there's always a first time ;)
Interests
Biology, nature - especially entomology (insects etc.) and ornithology (birdwatching), Photography. So lots of my free time I try to spend in nature, especially in summer time - and this is what I would also like to do while couchsurfing - explore the nature of other countries, because previously, when I've been abroad, I didn't have such opportunities (mostly group excursions in cities, other events and so on). I enjoy sports too (like playing basketball, riding bike etc.). Also music - I'm complete beginner in guitar playing, but maybe with time I will improve my skills.

Music, Movies, and Books
Some of my favorite movies from top of my head are Into The Wild and Seven Pounds.
I listen to wide variety of hard rock and metal music - all the way from Aerosmith to Amon Amarth on the heavy side. But probably the favorite artist is Canadian genius Devin Townsend and bands like Soilwork, In Flames and before-mentioned Amon Amarth. From time to time I also enjoy some folk and rap music (Army of The Pharaohs for example). But I never go too much into lyrics of music which I listen to - more important to me is the music itself.
As for books, of course I like books about nature (Gerald Durrel, for example) and some Sci-Fi from Michael Crichton, Isaac Asimov and others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Have participated in EUCYS (European contest of Young Scientists) in Valencia, which was really cool, because I had never been so far south before. But I hope that the most amazing things will come through couchsurfing experience :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Well my strongest 'sides' are the knowledge in biology and skills in photography - so these are things in which I could help other people.
As of me - I most definitely would like to learn some new things which could be useful later when I'm back home. And learn anything about nature of other countries - I would be definitely grateful for some tips how to get (like buses, routes, where to stay etc.) to best places around you for nature watching/photographing in your region.
