About Me

I'd like to start by saying that music is my religion—it invigorates me, beguiles me, it nourishes me more than food at times.

In 2011 I graduated from The Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, and I’m currently in the process of starting my very own food business.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While traveling on a budget, it is nice to not only have a place to rest my head but to experience the local culture and cross-pollinate ideas with a number of enthralling individuals from all walks of life.

Interests

I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to work in many different fields over the years... food, film, fashion, photographer, event planning, activism, as a SON, BROTHER, FRIEND, COUSIN, "YOU NAME IT!" I've always been fueled by curiosity and I trust that it will continue to place me in the way of unforeseen creativity for as long as I live.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: R&B, Soul, House, Hip-Hop, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Electronic, Rock, Pop, Dub, Trip-Hop, Trap, Reggae, Bossa Nova, Samba, Trio, Salsa, Merengue, Bolero, Cumbia, Ballenato, Forro, Flamenco, Sheesh!... and on it goes.

Movies: Anything directed by Spike Jonze, Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, spike Lee, The Cohen Bro's, Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu, Stanley Kubrick, Pedro Almodovar, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Martin Scorsese, Gaspar Noe, Alfonso Cuaron, Steven Spielberg, Alexander Payne, Roman Polanski, the Coppola's, amongst others.

I'm an absolute sucker for independent/foreign cinema! It ain't no lie.

Books: I'm by no means an avid reader, but I do have a great deal of respect for Zadie Smith, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, David Sedaris, Junot Diaz, Toni Morrison, Julia Alvarez, Anthony Bourdain, Fran Leibovitz, Sandra Cisneros, Cherrie Moraga, Jonathan Franzen, Angela Davis, Jessica Hagedorn, Octavia Butler, just to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This summer a friend and I walked 1,300 miles from NYC to New Orleans, LA as a way to promote mental health awareness and re-discover our purpose for being. It was a remarkable experience!
