About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Having the time of my life in the dairy state aka Wisconsin, USA.
ABOUT ME
If you asked my friends about me I guess they would say that I'm your typical Scandinavian girl with blond hair and blue eyes. They might also say that I'm a sports freak since I have completed a marathon and is planning on doing an Ironman in august 2013. They might call me a busy girl who is always engaged in some kind of activity or project or is on her way somewhere. Finally I think they would describe me as a happy girl and easy to be around. And I admit I spend most of my days being happy cause I really haven't got at lot to complain about. If I should describe myself I would say that I'm 26 and an undergraduate student in Danish language and literature at University of Copenhagen in Denmark. At the moment I'm studying linguistics at University of Wisconsin -Madison and I'm probably one of the oldest undergraduates on campus. I enrolled in college at a high age which had to do with my addiction to traveling. I spend a couple of years after high school teaching sports in East Africa and picking coffee in Central America, went backpacking in the southern parts of Africa and the western part of Europe and drove across the USA, but that didn't satisfy my urge to travel. So every chance I get I take off cause I believe that there are always new amazing places to explore and wonderful people to meet. At the moment I'm discovering the wonders of the American Midwest and later this year I'll be going to Canada before flying to South America to meet up with a friend in Lima, Peru.
As a linguistics major I love foreign languages and besides my native language Danish I speak English, German and Spanish and I really enjoy practicing my conversations skills in all four of them.
PHILOSOPHY
I have a few quotes that I have written in my planner which I believe captures how I try to live my life:
You shouldn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling!
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!
Never settle for less!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I just joined CouchSurfing so I have no experience yet, but I'm hoping that it will only be a matter of time before I have amazing stories to tell.
Interests
Doing sports is a big part of my life and I try to exercise every day cause it makes me happy and gives me energy to cope with long days in school and at work. I'm really into triathlon (swimming, cycling and running) and has made my goal to complete an Ironman in August 2013. I completed a marathon in 2009 that went so well that I wanted to challenge my body even more.
Volunteer work is another big part of my life. I'm volunteering in The Danish Red Cross Youth back in Denmark, but most of my traveling has also had something to do with volunteering. Volunteering has made me come across so many wonderful and passionate people and it has shown me that mankind is not lost even though that is the feeling you sometimes get when you are looking at things going on the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I just watched Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris and I find it absolutely wonderful and it really made me wanna go to Paris. Music wise I'm listen to a lot of different stuff, but my a few of favorite artists are Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Simon & Garfunkel, Johnny Cash, Etta James and Otis Redding.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed Kilimanjaro when I was in Tanzania and standing on the roof of Africa watching the sun rise is a moment I'll never forget.
In Australia I went flying in an air balloon one early morning in the area around Alice Springs and Ayers Rock. Flying over jumping kangaroos and looking at the red soil that almost seemed as if it was burning in the early morning sun was a stunning sight.
In South Africa I dived with white sharks and was amazed with the elegance and beauty of this giant creature.
