I’m Carlos, an architect from Colombia based in Sydney, about to start a six-month adventure through Latin America, beginning in Mexico with my partner Maria.

I’m easygoing, curious, and always keen to explore new places, meet good people, and experience the local side of each destination. I love spontaneous plans, nature, good conversations, and discovering hidden spots along the way.

I’m also a big football lover. For me, football is one of the best ways to connect with people anywhere in the world, whether that means watching a match, talking about the game, or kicking a ball around.

I have hosted many travellers and friends from around the world over the years. Now that I live in Sydney, we really enjoy welcoming people into our home and sharing a bit of life here.

Intereses

I’m very interested in travel, architecture, football, food, and meeting people from different cultures. I enjoy exploring cities on foot, finding local spots, spending time outdoors, and having good conversations with people from all kinds of backgrounds.

Football is a big passion of mine and always an easy way to connect with others. I also love the social side of travel: sharing stories, learning about how people live, and discovering places through local recommendations rather than just tourist guides.

Since I work in architecture, I naturally enjoy design, spaces, and the character of different cities. For me, travelling is a mix of adventure, culture, and human connection.

Música, películas y libros

My taste in music and movies is pretty broad. With music, I can go from salsa, merengue, and reggaeton to 80s rock, electronic music, Latin American rap, and classic artists like The Rolling Stones, Tupac, Fito Páez, Bob Marley, The Doors, Queen, or The Chemical Brothers. It really depends on the moment. For me, good music is anything that makes me feel something.

For movies, I love Inception, lol. I’m also a big fan of Tarantino films like Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Django. I enjoy mafia movies, especially Italian mafia stories, and in general anything with suspense, lots of cops, and that classic good guys versus bad guys tension will keep me hooked.

I volunteered at the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which was an incredible experience full of friendships, football, and unforgettable memories.

Another amazing thing I’ve done was a road trip through South America with my father. It brought us much closer and gave us experiences and conversations I’ll always value.

I’m also a skydiver with more than 400 jumps, and that has definitely been one of the most exciting parts of my life.

I’d love to learn how people from different parts of the world see life and how they live it. I really enjoy meaningful conversations about life, politics, climate change, and different ways of thinking.

I’m happy to share my own perspective too, along with what I know about architecture, design, skydiving, football, and now even a bit of surfing.
