About Me

Hi, I’m Chad Cupido – and yes, that really is my family name.

I’m a global citizen, wellness advocate, and conscious entrepreneur. I currently serve as Executive Officer at Beauty Without Cruelty South Africa, one of the most established animal rights organizations on the continent. I also founded Omni Wellness Media, where I create media that educates, uplifts, and inspires.

With roots in journalism, education, yoga, and advocacy, I’ve traveled the world studying, teaching, and building partnerships in the name of sustainability, wellness, and justice. I’m currently completing a PhD in Sociology, and I’m passionate about bringing together people, ideas, and heart-led action.

Above all, I’m just someone who loves learning, connecting, and living fully with purpose.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To me, this platform is about much more than a place to sleep. It’s about meaningful exchange, culture, laughter, learning, and shared humanity.

Traveling has taught me that you don’t really know a place until you’ve shared a table, walked its streets with someone who calls it home, or talked about life in the early hours. I’m here for all of that. I love hosting, being hosted, and forming long-lasting friendships wherever I go.

Interests

Yoga and meditation

Ethical travel and conscious living

Animal rights and sustainability

Storytelling, podcasting, and media production

Language, philosophy, and personal transformation

Nature, hiking, fitness, and community wellness

Thought-provoking books and meaningful films

Music, Movies, and Books
My music taste ranges from soul and jazz to melodic house and conscious beats. I love music that moves the spirit and brings people together.

Books that have shaped me include "The Road Less Travelled", the works of Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, and anything that explores the deeper aspects of human nature and consciousness.

Movies that touch the heart, challenge the mind, or make me laugh always stay with me. I tend to get emotionally involved with characters, which I see as a gift rather than a weakness.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a journalist, I once went undercover in a deeply impoverished part of Cape Town to expose systemic inequality. That experience opened my eyes, broke my heart, and deepened my commitment to service. It reminded me of our shared humanity, and how powerful storytelling can be when it’s used with integrity.

Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach yoga, guided meditation, creative writing, and podcast development. I’m always eager to learn about local customs, languages, spiritual practices, and social movements.

I love sharing space, stories, laughter, plant-based meals, and ideas for a better world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I go where the wind takes me :-) That is who I am and the reason for me wanting to see the world. Traveling and experiencing new cultures are passions of mine and that is the reason I am on Couchsurfing.

To me, it is more than just a place to sleep. Its about experiencing life as a local and that is why Couchsurfing is great. I'm also a qualified English teacher as teaching is another passion of mine. I love sharing ideas and experiences. Couchsurfing gives me the perfect opportunity to network and make new friends and even family :-)

Interests

I love Yoga. I will be doing a 200-hour teachers course in India very soon. I also love meditation- not just sitting quietly, but experiencing peace and joy through all that life has to offer :-).

I also love outdoor activities. I currently run a boot camp (exercise program) in Taiwan. I have 20 students and most of them have lost a lot of weight, but more importantly gained self confidence and a healthy lifestyle. To me helping others is the greatest thing and it bring me all the joy in the world :-)

My other interests are reading, relaxing with a good book or movie as well as children. I love their innocence and when i see a child, i become one to. It is the most exhilarating thing in the world to be a child.

Music, Movies, and Books

I most genres. My favorite is old school soul and R&B, uplifting melodic trance, Jazz and even some rock - now and again :-)

My favorite book is called "A road less travelled" followed by all Alan Watts and Eckhart Tolle publications.

I don't have any preference for movies. It depends on my mood. I must admit that i do cry when watching certain movies, as i become very attached to the characters and experience what they experience. Yes, its a bit weird but i feel that its an amazing thing to feel for and relate to others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While working as a Journalist I did an undercover story on a very poor community in Cape Town, South Africa. My editors thought it was crazy and too dangerous but it totally opened my eyes to the true essence of life. I learnt how to relate to others and understand people and the situations they face. I learnt that we are all beautiful and that love is the only way we can move forward.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a teacher (by profession), a learner (by traveling an experiencing different perspectives) and a sharer (by giving all that I can give to those around me)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing comes naturally to me. I am a good entertainer and would love my hosts to ask me as many questions as they like. I love singing and writing and as an English teacher, I can assist with anything they need help with such as writing an English resume. I can also teach meditation as well as health and fitness. I'm also willing to take my hosts for dinner and they can even join me on hikes and outdoor activities.

When my hosts travel I will assist them with itinerary and a big network of friends and hosts all around the world. :-)
