Overview
About Me
I study glaciers. I love riding my bicycle. I spend a lot of time writing computer code, but I don't own a computer or a cell phone. I have been doing a lot of Texas two stepping recently, which is a local variant of jitterbug swing dancing. I have a garden and chickens in my back yard. I have an old upright piano in my garage. I am not a very good pianist. I compost, I always take the stairs, I'm nary a spectator. I like foods with few ingredients.
I make a lot of bad puns. I'm a (non-militant) vegetarian. I try not to let luxuries become necessities. One exception: good socks.
I cannot remember the last time I was bored. Oh wait, yes, yes I do--one time about ten years ago I played a game of baseball. That was really, really boring.
Life is too short to drink reconstituted juice.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started couch surfing to save money. Now I do it because the hotel experience feels quite empty by comparison.
Interests
Bicycles, cooking, musical instruments, swing dancing, public radio, gardening, climate research, coding, hiking, canoeing, running, polar bear swimming, making things instead of buying them, thrift stores when I'm too lazy to make what I need.
