Getting Settled in KY
PHILOSOPHY
Grab the Bird! One summer, there was a dove that got stuck between two window panes in my building at work. He got in, but he (or she) couldn't get back out. Someone had called building services, but the poor bird was getting really distraught. Someone came and asked me if I had any tools to try to open the window (the crank to open it had been removed). I got out my bike tools and tried to get the window open, but it didn't work. Well, I ended up just prying the window partway open and grabbed the bird, who was pretty calm as long as I kept talking to it (I was the poultry queen of my state fair in a former life). Then I went running out of the building hoping he wouldn't poop on me. We got out of the door, I launched him into the air, and he circled around a time or two as if to thank me.
So Grab the Bird means that you go in and help even with little things wherever you are if it makes someone else's life better.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've recommended this site to some other people, have hosted and been hosted, and participated in a local group when I lived in Indiana.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had positive experiences through couchsurfing, though I'm not as active on it now as I used to be. I'm still referring people to the site, though, and hope they have great experiences!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rode my bike for three months coast-to-coast from Virginia to Oregon Summer 06. Incredible!
Teach, Learn, Share
Um, I'm pretty good at writing resumes? I'm learning how to fix bikes, too. I proofread/edit stuff all the time for people.
