ABOUT ME

Hello Everyone! I'm originally from Mandurah WA, I moved to Darwin in the Northern Territory after finishing my degree to do a graduate program in finance. I was then offered a permanent position. I plan on staying in staying in Darwin for a few years to get some experience under my belt, after that I'd love to live in Europe for a year or so.

I love meeting new people and find it interesting to learn about different countries and cultures. I'm quite a social person but I also value my downtime, especially after work :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am happy to show you around Darwin and if your lucky my couch may also be available.My friend Amy and I went for a short holiday in the USA in late 2011. While we were there we surfed several couches and it far exceeded my expectations!After such an awesome trip in the USA I decided to do some hosting of my own :)I would also like to spend some time in Europe and other parts of the world in a few years (probably 2014) and I'm hoping to build up some contacts and knowledge about the world!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couch surfing has been great so far, both hosting (here in Darwin) and surfing (in the USA/Sydney), as well as meeting up with CSers in Vietnam and Singapore - many excellent experiences.

Prior to my official couchsurfing my most notable experience would be when I went to Thailand in 2007 with a small group of friends from high school. We stayed with a Thai girl who had been the exchange student at our high school in our final year. Her local knowledge helped make it an awesome holiday! (And stopped us getting lost/ripped off!)

Interessen

Oh geez interests? I guess like to try a bit of everything?!? Being in Darwin I like to go out and experience nature, but at the same time I'm happy to return to civiliation at the end of the day!

I like learning about different cultures and playing tourist!

I prefer a pub with a pool table and live music to a nightclub but I'm happy to go with the flow.

I don't mind a bit of intellectual conversation and have an interest in the economy (hence the economics major at university).

I've also taken nightclasses in photography, basic automotive servicing, oil massage, zumba and hip hop, and a short course on Diet and Nutrition.

Currently I am studying again, doing a professional (post graduate) qualification in accounting.

Would like to try learn cooking and oil painting in the future.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Movies: I mainly like comedy, action, thriller and horror movies.
Music: I believe good music comes in a variety of forms and will happily listen to a very broad range, almost anything besides heavy metal/screamo.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Basically my whole trip in the USA: I saw snow for the first time in Salt Lake City!! It was so light and fluffy. Climbed down the grand canyon, drove over the golden gate bridge, had my first Halloween, drove on the right side of the road, went to a strip club in vegas, toured universal studios and found out hollywood is actually pretty dodgy!

LOCAL TIP: The best time to visit Darwin is during the Australian Winter (June-August), in Darwin winter is actually the "Dry season" when it very rarely rains and you get several months of near perfect weather. This is also the time of year when there is the most to do, some businesses close in the wet and most of the annual/regular events are held only in the dry season.
