Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to head back to Mali(West Africa) in December to catch up with good friends from my first visit last year.

ABOUT ME

I live on 50 acres(20.2 hectares) 20km from Grafton on the Orara river.I have built my own house from stone and timber, with solar power, composting toilet and a huge covered dancefloor. I practise pilates of a morning on the dancefloor with the sun coming up and the birds chirping. On the other end of the spectrum, I like to party and have some great bashes with live bands and lots of friends. My place is 4km off the main road through the bush, so is very quiet and peaceful. I live here with my dog Gandi and all the bush animals and birds. I have been following the philosophy of permaculture for many years and live with minimal impact on the planet. I love growing vegies and also love travelling. I have been to 18 countries with Japan being the only westernised country( I taught English there for a year)the remainder being from Papua New Guinea, through Asia, Tibet, Nepal, the Middle East and Africa. I'm itching to get to South America for drumming and dancing.I also love the ocean and go scuba diving when the chance comes up. Fishing with my friends out at sea is a total joy. I play the piano a little and guitar a little less, though I have nice instruments for the more adept to play.I have been a WWoofing (Willing workers on organic farms) Host for many years, so am accustomed to visitors from varied cultures. One day I'm going to write a book about all the 'shitters" I have endured in my travels - some of the memories are a bit awesome. I'm an easy-going person, love to laugh and my family and friends are important to me!

PHILOSOPHY

My biggest philosophy is to do what I need to do, so that when I wake up in the morning I'm as happy as possible. Then, when I mix with people, I offer them the best of myself.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love reading and read many varied genres. I guess one of my favourite books is " The Snow Leopard " by Peter Matthiessen. My music tastes are many and varied, though at the moment my favourite bands are Habib Koite and Bamada and Toumani Diabate from Mali.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Meeting an amazing man called V.R. Sharma in India in 1987. He was a good friend of Mahatma Ghandi before Ghandi died, and his spirit and compassion has always stayed in my memory.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I am happy to share all of the skills and knowledge I have so far developed with as many people as possible. In return, I ask the same thing!
