About Me

Hi, everybody. My name is Ekaterina, Katya or Kate (European variant).
I have just moved to Chinese Dalian to work as an English Teacher in a kindergarten.
Back in Russia I used to be engaged in AIESEC activities as a volunteer, visited Bachata lessons, went in for Indian dances, travelled in and out of country.
I am a vibrant, jolly, talkative, communicative, daring girl who can't imagine her life without travelling and learning about new cultures. I am positive and active, can't sit for a long time in one place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, I am here because I LOVE TRAVELLING! And because I want to try a totally different style of travelling, i.e. backpacking and visiting local people.
I am sure that seeing a place with a native inhabitant is much more interesting than doing it with a travel group or with some trained guide. Well, courchsurfing helps to save some bucks, isnt it also important nowadays?

Interests

Indian dances and Indian culture have been and remain the main hobby of my life for almost 10 years. I am ready to discuss anything and everything about this bright country whenever it is possible.
I surely love travelling and try to go somewhere at least once a year. I'd prefer a backpacking, since I experienced it once when we backpacked in India, but honestly speaking I can't do it as often as I'd like. That's why I am extremely happy when I get such wonderful chance to get away with a rucksack.
I like to meet new people, especially people of different nationalities. For me this is the best life experience.
I also do handicrafts or cross-stitching.
I collect magnets, banners (flags) of different countries, interesting pens and dolls from the places which I had visited.
Not long before I moved to China I started learning Bachata.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, I do not stick to some particular type of music, I just love to listen whatever like. It is surely some Bollywood music, Japanese pop, oriental music, blues, jazz, pop, etc etc. I do like to listen to music which makes my limbs move. :)
As for movies I prefer romantic comedies, travel and road movies, and sometimes dramas. I do like watching Indian, Turkish, Japanese movies.
Unfortunatelly I do not get much time for books nowadays. But if I had to tell what my fav books are, I would say travel guides or some travel notes, like Eat, pray, love. I also like to read various culturological books describing particulars of various nations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked in Vietnam for 2 weeks all alone and, well, now have just moved to China for 1 year.

I can teach English and Russian, as well as cooking traditional Russian food.
I like to learn more about local culture and traditions by meeting local people.
I am ready to share my life experience and my company.
