About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet and learn about life from amazing people around the world.
ABOUT ME
My parents are from overseas, but I grew up in a very small town in the desert in Arizona, near the Pima and Papago Indian reservations. When I graduated from high school, I was 16 and didn't feel quite ready to to college yet, so I saved up from my part time job in high school and went to stay for 8 months in a village in India near Pune. When I finally returned from that experience, I had been bitten by the traveling bug and was determined to move to New York. I started a small business making tamales and mexican food and earned enough to move to New York. After traveling a great deal in Europe, I settled down in New Orleans to attend college, where I majored Business and Film Production, with a minor in Asian History. During my sophomore year at the University of New Orleans, I was fortunate enough to be admitted to a program sponsored by the Japanese Minstry of Culture to live with a host family in Japan and I learned to speak Japanese fluently. Following graduation from college, my first job in the film industry was working for a producer of low budget martial arts films in Hong Kong, where I lived for almost 2 years, cutting trailers and attending various film markets to sell these films. I have since relocated to Los Angeles and have worked at a number of film distribution companies over the past few years. In my current job I am responsible for the acquisition of foreign films for release in the US, which gives me an opportunity to travel frequently.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have a beautiful, very peaceful home near Hancock Park and Koreatown, in Los Angeles, where I can host when I return from my travels. At this time I am traveling for work.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I first arrived in New York, I lived for a time with an elderly couple, friends of friends, who had a fantastic apartment in Chelsea. Interestingly enough, I learned that this elderly Jewish couple were retired stockbrokers, who were also members of the Communist Party! which seemed to be a contradiction...but they were really great people and I learned many things from them and enjoyed the countless Jewish holiday parties they hosted.
