Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because we believe the best way to discover a new place is by getting in touch with the people that have been living there for a while. We have visited very different places in the world and find it interesting to exchange visions.

A home is the warmest place for all of us, it is where we feel good. Being invited to someones home feels to us like that person opens the door to her/his/ their soul. There's no more generous gesture than opening the door of your house to people. Strangers. Travelers.

Music, Movies, and Books

We enjoy all kinds of music. From Classical to DeepHouse. Lauren (10) plays the violin, Jools (8) plays the piano as does Daniel. Daniel used to be a DJ.
Channa adores reading the best novels & thrillers. Daniel is more into non-fiction. We travel with a Harry Potter Fan too (Lauren) :-), both books & Movies pass by regularly.
We watch movies together can also enjoy playing a board game or cards very much.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In August we embarked on a 2 day hike in Tiger Leaping Gorge in China (Yunnan province) just after heavy rainfall struck the area. All 4 of us. And we enjoyed every minute of it, even though it was... heavy.

Teach, Learn, Share

We will share experiences in life, travels, sports, etc. in English and Dutch (Mother tongue). Kids also speak both languages. Lauren just started learning French from Daniel.
We homeschool our kids this year (we are not teachers). We can teach primary school math, how to build presentations/stories. We did remodel 2 houses and an apartment, so if something can be fixed, we'll try until it is fixed.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you accept us to stay over, we propose to help you where you want us to: playing with the kids, babysitting, gardening, cleaning, cooking, putting together IKEA furniture/kitchens, even some electricity works or basic plumbing, anything really: just don't be afraid to ask! We'll make sure to let you know if it is something we can/cannot help you with.
We really love to cook and are happy to prepare traditional Belgian dishes or other healthy food.
We love meeting other people, having a drink, exchanging ideas, etc.
