About Me

Since december '16 I am on a worldtrip. I sold my house, stored all my belongings and try to slow down and enjoy the countries I am visiting. And it feels so good not making plans or if I do make plans to be able to change them (and that occurs daily). I really enjoy this way of travelling, this way of life and it shows...

Well who am I - I like to be outdoors and love hiking - no thoughts, just me enjoying the beauty around me. "Walking in sunshine" describes me pretty well :-). Love nature but (clouded) skies will get me shut up.
I'm easy going, spontaneous, down to earth (typical dutch) and what you see is what you get. I like to eat healthy but I'm not a health freak but do love chocolate though.

And last but not least, I like to meet other people and I like to share.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting locals is the main reason why I joined CS.
Getting to know their way of life and being part of their culture.

Interests

That's what's my worldtrip is about

  • reading
  • traveling
  • hiking
  • golf
  • nature
  • wanderlust
  • sun
  • anything outdoors
  • mountain hiking

Music, Movies, and Books

Wild from Cheryl Strayed was my trigger to go on this world trip. Before that I had a lot of reasons (or at least I thought I had them) not to go.
I like to read travel stories but I can get lost in a thriller (David Baldacci is my favourite). And it is not really reading but cooking books are good the have.
Concerning music I don't have a favorite - just love to listen to all kinds of music but don't ask me who is singing because I just don't know (most of the time).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That's hard to select only 1 thing. Since I'm travelling I have done a lot of amazing things but in my top 5 are:
Gibbon Experience (ziplining and sleeping in tree house) in Laos
Bamboo cooking
Watching sunrise from an air balloon
Heli hiking
Putting up my tent in the middle of nowhere and have the best views

Teach, Learn, Share

My favorite sentence is a Dutch one and it is hard to translate because it is also a grammatical one. It is a sentence of 'Loesje' and I tried to live according this one for years but only now that I'm on my world trip I finally do
"Leven is meervoud van lef" - free translation: to live is plural of guts.

Don't worry about things you are not able to influence. If you realise this one, life gets easier!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about my travels and good conversations.
But I would love to make lunch or diner for you.

But best of all I think it's something we will contrive together, just let me know
