About Me

I'm 26 years old, who loves to go to new places and meet new people and generally just try to find new adventures and fun fellow humans to chat along to and hopefully learn from :)

I currently live in the North East of the UK, it's cold and overpriced but I really enjoy it there at the moment. I work part time doing admin work from my computer, which makes me pretty flexible.I like to cross stitch on a night, I find it a very relaxing and I usually end up spending most evening stitching away and listening to a podcast. I'm also an avid reader - this year I'm trying to read more non fiction and I try to write one review a month.

I adore trying new food whenever possible, which is one of the reasons I love travelling and I'm also big on keeping fit and healthy. I'm a vegan, and I love to cook my own food most of the time, when at home I'm part of a vegan baking club which tends to lead to some...errr... interesting attempts :) Always happy to help out where I can - be that with cleaning, cooking meals etc.

I also volunteer at home at a local community centre, helping cook a meal from food waste, and also at a horizontally structured, volunteer ran social centre (it fits with my politics quite well!)...a lot of my spare time is spent there and it's rather lovely! I've recently started to have fun using paints for the first time in years too :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I spent one year travelling together in 2014 and had the opportunity to visit India, Australia and parts of South East Asia and Europe. I stayed in many hostels when visiting these places and loved the opportunity to meet new people, but we would love to explore the opportunities that couchsurfing could bring, including making new friends, learning and being able to engage more actively in local culture. I have couchsurfed in the past and would love to make it a more regular occurrence. I guess the main reason is to learn, develop as person, step out my comfort zone and meet new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've got a proper soft spot for anything 90's - dance and grunge particularly. I am a fan of techno, psytrance, drum and bass, neurofunk, progrock, any sort of requiem. I have a big space in my heart for Nirvana and Led Zeppelin. I love to read, as much as I adore paper books, I couldn't live without my ereader when travelling. I enjoy books that focus on societal constraints and transgressive fiction. I'd say my favourite authors are Bret Easton Ellis and Hubert Selby Jr. so I'd love to discuss, debate and get new ideas :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a hook suspension which is the most mentally challenging thing I've ever done - I have the scars to prove it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy political/social/culture discussions to keep the mind open to new ideas and learning how other people see ideas, I'm a socialist and I love to chat to others to hear their thoughts. I also know the first verse of 'Jingle Bells' on harmonica and like to cross stitch if that counts as a skill! I'm also learning JavaScript in my spare time so would love to chat about this with people around the globe!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to talk to people, love to learn new skills and gain knowledge and I think I have a very proactive, fun loving nature which is easy to catch!
