About Me

Hi! I'm from Hong Kong but am currently working as a Legal Consultant in England. I have lived in England for almost ten years and was au pairing in Paris the year before. I studied Law in University and am working in the sector but my passion lies in languages. I LOVE travelling and exploring different cities and places. I enjoy learning about different cultures and experiencing life in different parts of the world. I also like reading and being outdoors, hanging out with friends - whether its a chilled day in or a spontaneous crazy night out! I am friendly, approachable and adaptable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What’s a better way to get to know a city then through its people? I think Couchsurfing is a great way to get to know enthusiastic travellers and amiable friends from all over the world who share a similar passion to me. Also, hopefully I will get to experience the places that I travel to in a more authentic and local way.

Interests

I love reading, listening to music, sightseeing, going to markets and of course travelling. I also like to write and learn different languages. I have been studying Spanish since I was 14 and learnt French for a year when I lived in Paris. I like trying new things and picking up new hobbies. I’ve currently taken up knitting, which I find therapeutic and also satisfying whenever I finish a piece.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love anything mainstream, for books, movies and music. My favourite book so far is A Little Life. I love watching movies (going to the cinema in England is really expensive so I like to have a cosy movie night in with my friends once in a while). I like most music on the chart haha. My favourite singers are Ellie Goulding and Dua Lipa, but I love all sorts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked as an English tutor in Hong Kong during my gap year and it was the most amazing thing that I've done. There were kids (age 3-12) who had learning difficulties or did not even know all 26 alphabets when I first taught them and by the end of my job, their passion for the language and ability has improved dramatically which I am super proud of. The journey was not always easy as sometimes kids could be quite tough to handle, making the job more difficult. But I wouldn't trade anything for the sense of achievement I get from seeing them improve!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. I can converse in Spanish (or used to be able to, hopefully I've still got it in me :p) so I can teach those languages. I can also have simple conversations in French having lived in Paris for a year. I used to play the piano. I'd love to learn to play the guitar and any new languages! I could share my culture with you - having been in England for so long I consider it my home more than Hong Kong in some ways. And most importantly a good time and a long lasting friendship hopefully.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my experience on anything that I have, a passion for music, movies, books and travelling and hopefully a good time whilst I'm there and a friendship that last even afterwards.
