About Me

I'm a current junior at University of California-Davis, major in cognitive science. still thinking about life, but currently want to explore more.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

1) I love travelling, but I don't like to go to tourism places, I like to discover things other people haven't discovered or places with cultures.

2) I like to meet new people. People who are on their journeys all have distinct stories, I want to hear other people's stories (either is stress from work or funny thing when travelling) and I want to share my own story (b/c mine is also worth listening :)

3) I want to travel using fewest money. I would like to try any way that's safe worthy. I heard there are some require work to trade on free housing or some by exchange free housing. I like to try them! If somebody's travel philosophy is like mine, feel free to be travel buddies!

Interests

CULTURE: I like to explore a city by using its public transportation and see the difference between those parts of city to explore city culture. The definition of culture is too broad, even different families have their own "cultures", I respect those cultures and also want to share my own cultures.

Shows: I like to watch TV shows from different countries. Shows basically reflect the social norma, how people interact, the environment and so on, when you understand why people laugh in a show, you’ll be pretty confident hanging out with people from that culture. But my knowledge of shows and jokes are weak right now, I’m always open to learn more! Ohh I like to watch YouTube video from people who raised or lived in a multi-lingual environment, like how they’ll speak in English and just suddenly change to Japanese. Sorry that’s also how my brain is wired. Bear with me if you suddenly hear 我很可爱 カレーライスwhen I’m speaking English. But tell me more about your culture, I’m afraid that I’m not representative of any culture right now, but that’s just me ;)

Instruments: I have played piano for 8 years, but my piano journey ended after I came to America for college :( But I would love to continue it somewhere in the world. Or we can go to music places in your city to enjoy the expression of music.

Sports: I'm doing boxing right now, yeah! Sometimes when I fight with guys, they say I have strong power. Maybe just because my movement is fast and know some boxing tricks, although I do drink protein shake and workout. There are so many things in the world I want to try, please show me if you're good at anyone!

Science: Science/Tech lover I can tell you about brain stuff. There’re many interesting fields under cognitive science, like mind, brain and education, social neuroscience, cultural neuroscience, neuroanthropology, cognitive neuroscience (basically you just combine words) I’m not an expert at any of the field right now, but I’m glad to share my shallow knowledge and know about your expertise.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I’ll usually search some to add to my favorite list once in a while. Currently I like Charlie Puth, Sam smith, camila canello, ed Sheeran and many more!

Movies: recently I watched “to all the boys I loved” and “kissing booth” I don’t watch movies a lot, but I’d like to watch any movie with the host and talk about life ;)

Books: OMG I love them! I’m trying to have my small shelf in my american apartment right now and when I travel to a new country, learn the language, I’ll also buy books in that language. Finally mailing all the books I bought to my home in China and just enjoy the big shelf of countries, of diversity, of cultures. So currently I can read in English, Japanese and Chinese. I like to read social science, fiction, history, anthropology, geopolitics and much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to kansai area in Japan and had amazing trip visiting few surrounding cities. Had too much matcha!

What I Can Share with Hosts

China: I can tell you anything I know about Chinese Personality: How I change from introvert to extrovert

My stories when I travel to different countries. I didn’t interact with hosts that much because of lack of confident in my second language-English, but after learning the third one-Japanese, it just like a quick click that I don’t feel awkward anymore and just want to connect with as many people as possible. Yea I’m still working on that, but hey let’s talk and share our stories, life, struggle and just everything.
