About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

ABOUT ME

I was born on the West Coast of Canada and love it. I'm a self proclaimed Travel-Addict. My work is such that I can work 8 months a year and travel for the rest. I'm a rock nerd and love exploring both cities and the beauty of the outdoors.

I'm always up for adventures and exploring new places, so give me a shout if we happen to be in the same city!

PHILOSOPHY

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "WOO HOO what a ride!" -Unknown

"I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later." - Mitch Hedberg

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have CS'd through Europe and met some pretty phenomenal people, had some good laughs, shared some good stories, and make some great friends. I haven't hosted yet because I do not have a couch (or a home, for that matter) but when I stop living the Nomadic lifestyle, I am going to be more than happy to host passers-by through the city I eventually call home (not sure what that'll be yet, most likely Vancouver, BC though!)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in Brighton, UK and in Lisboa, Portugal with some pretty rad guys. It was tons of fun and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Interests

Music, Rainforests and Mountains, relaxing and exploring, adventures, rocks/geology, biking, fishing, hiking, bug-swatting, air-guitar battling, kareoke, beer'n'wing nights, prank pulling, and...doodling

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - basically everything... State Radio is my top contender, Dispatch, Bassnectar, dance electronica in general (Guetta, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, etc) Vampire Weekend, Daft Punk, Manu Chao, Cat Stevens, Eric Clapton, Supertramp, ACDC, Spoon, Wintersleep, Born Ruffians, Metric, Simon and Garfunkle, Paul Simon, Mother Mother, The Dudes, Ratatat, Phoenix, Panda Bear, M.I.A., Metric MGMT, Xavier Rudd, Mason Jennings, K'Naan, Kings of Leon, K-os, Jon and Roy, The Cat Empire, Jason Mraz, Great Lake Swimmers, G. Love, Fat Freddy's Drop, The Black Seeds, Corb Lund, and a whole whack of local Vancouver/Victoria/West Coast indie bands! <3

My fave authors are Dan Brown and Paulo Coelho so anything by those two will do me just fine! Other than that, The Kite Runner, The Life of Pi, Narnia, Animal Farm, The God Delusion, National Geographic magazines (nerd alert!!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I went backpacking last year in Northern Thailand, I spent a week in an elephant conservation area working closely with elephants and helping them to thrive in an area that they have been traditionally hunted and abused. I fell in love with their gentleness, their intelligence, and their love for fun. The village I was living in was pretty phenomenal too.

Teach, Learn, Share

These teachings come from the poster on my wall and they quote the Dalai Lama....

- Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
- Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
- Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
- Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
- Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
- Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Saint Lucia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam
