About Me

Hello all,
I am about to move to China to start work as an ESL teacher. I just spent 3 years living in Saudi Arabia working as a nanny, that was a great adventure and I'm excited to start my new life in China!
I grew up in Canada, moving a few times, I've seen a lot of my home country! I consider myself a Prairie girl and Winnipeg is my home city when I'm not living abroad.
I love history and spend a lot of time wandering around museums and art galleries. I love to read books about authors because it's fascinating to imagine the lives of the people writing the stories I love.
I love to cook and bake and finding an oven is going to be a top priority for me in China, I hear they aren't common but I hope it's not impossible!

Best Travel Moments:
Spending a day at an Elephant farm in Thailand my mom
Snorkeling in the Maldives with my nanny family
Getting lost in Venice alone
Camping on Vancouver Island with my mom and sisters

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be moving to Suzhou in February to start teaching ESL. I'm hoping to find someone to stay with for a week or two so I don't feel so much pressure to try to find an apartment in 4 days.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with some great women while backpacking across Europe! Wow that was so long ago! I can't wait to get settled in Suzhou and be able to offer my own couch to fellow travelers and pay it forward!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm most proud of myself for cliff jumping in Corfu, something which required conquering my two biggest fears--heights and the ocean!
**Wow, This was my answer to this question back in 2006 so I think I'll leave it here for posterity as I update my profile**
Let's see 2018 Charelle thinks the most amazing thing I've done is....not something that can be summed as one thing! I guess what I think of now are all the mind blowing sunsets and views I have seen around the world in the last 10 years and I am just amazed by that.

Belgium, Czech Republic, England, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Maldives, Mexico, Netherlands, Slovenia, Turkey, United States, Wales
