About Me

I'm a friendly junior doctor, musician, sceptic and aspiring vegan.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Due to working full time, I don't meet as many new people as I used to. I think Couchsurfing is a fantastic way to meet people and open yourself to new ideas, cultures, cuisines and personalities.

Interests

I love cooking and eating good food, good music, Geocaching, walks in the park, board games and getting entrenched in debates. I can also be occasionally spotted salsa dancing, Munro bagging and playing Minecraft on my days off.

Music, Movies, and Books

Terry Pratchett is my all time favourite author (still sad, *sob*) and I generally stick to fantasy. Other favourites include Tolkien, Jonathan Stroud, Trudi Canavan, David Eddings, Richard Adams, Neil Gaiman and Phillip Pullman. I've just finished reading Consider Phlebas by Iain M Banks and I'm looking forward to getting into more of the Culture series.

I'm not a massive cinema-goer but enjoy comedy, fantasy and adventure. Some of my favourites include Stardust, Tangled and The Princess Bride.

Musically, my tastes are pretty eclectic! I enjoy everything from classical (recently saw Elgar's Cello Concerto at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and it was beautiful!) through to heavy metal (had a whale of a time at Sonisphere Poland in 2010 seeing the big four of thrash metal together for the first time!). At home, I'm probably listening to electro-swing, jazz or film soundtracks. Some of my favourite recent finds include The Correspondents, Goldfish and Postmodern Jukebox.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once taught a village of Poles how to ceilidh dance, great fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to show Glasgow to folk from out of town. I feel my city gets under-rated sometimes and, after studying, working and living here for 5 years, I want to show people what they're missing!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a decent knowledge of Glasgow, some (probably) decent food, and a cosy place to stay.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Croatia, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
